Bryce Harper Gets More Frat by the Day

Bryce Harper is really, really good at baseball, and he plays the sport with an admirable “fuck you” mentality. “Hit me with a pitch? Fuck you, I’m stealing home.” Bryce Harper is also gifted with an impressively blatant TFTC attitude. However that attitude has at times been overplayed. Sure he’s liable to give the quality hilarious quote (see: question, clown) but more often than not the kid has kept his head down and played hard, surprisingly only acting out when it is somewhat appropriate to do so. Bryce Harper is top recruit in his pledge class, and he knows it, but all in all he’s still been a good, respectful pledge.

The latest example of this is the respect for his elders he showed the other day after a game against the Atlanta Braves. Harper, who was left off the initial National League All-Star team roster, is in the running to be voted in by the fans for the last spot. He’s up against four other players, including future Hall of Famer and legendarily frat third baseman Chipper Jones of the Atlanta Braves. Jones, of course, is in the last year of his historic career. He plans to retire at the end of the season. When asked who he thought should get the last spot, Harper deferred to Jones, saying that if he was going to vote, he would do so for Chipper.

The kid respects the legend, just like any good pledge should. Good on you Bryce Harper.

Harper won’t be casting an official vote, but the rest of you can here.

Help send Chipper off in style, and then watch as the MLB’s newest frat star rises into his own legend.
