Bryce Harper Had a Clown Halloween Costume, Bro

There’s not much to say about this other than to reiterate that Bryce Harper is a ridiculous human being. Judging by the bowls of candy next to him I assume he greeted a couple trick-or-treaters in that get up. The kids were probably really excited to meet Bryce Harper too, until they actually met him. I feel like that happens to Bryce Harper a lot. At least he got the full sized candy bars. Those kids hit the jackpot.

Elsewhere Mike Trout sat at home, lamenting the fact that he didn’t win a gold glove (what!?!?!), probably won’t win the MVP he deserves, and is losing headlines to the rookie from the other league who makes look like, well, like a fucking clown by statistical comparison. A 10.7 WAR, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing.

WAR is nothing but a comparison of a player verses a mythical good player elevated from the minors to the majors. It’s a terrible stat, because IF the WAR stat had been used since 1900 it is likely that only about half of these players would have won the MVP: Yaz, Frank Robinson, Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Hornsby, Ty Cobb, and Nao Lajoie.

High leverage situations: Trout: .317, Cabrera: .365.

    August/September slash lines (roughly):

    Trout: .287/.500/.880
    Cabrera: .341/.670/1.080

I’m not saying he doesn’t deserve MVP, and yes game 1 is equal to game 162, but there’s no denying that Trout showed his age and wilted when the team needed him most.

    tl;dr- Chipper for AL MVP.

Agree completely that Trout deserves the Gold Glove and his wins above replacement are better by far over Cabrera, but there is no way he “deserves” the MVP. Cabrera pulled off the the first triple crown in 45 years.

Agreed. He’s Mormon, has a mohawk, dresses like shit, and hates alcohol. He has money and he is good at a boring sport. Who cares?
