Carson Palmer Isn’t Retiring Just Yet — He Still Has More Playoff Games To Not Win

Carson Palmer is a football legend in both the best and worst ways possible. On one hand, he won the most prestigious award in college football — the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award — in 2002 (on a lesser note, he also happened to win the Heisman that same year). On the other, he will go down in history as one of the most futile quarterbacks in the history of the NFL, with just one lone playoff victory in 13 seasons as a starter.
Many people thought Palmer would retire after this past season, where he failed to make the playoffs — something he has become an expert at, having not made them 10 out of the 13 seasons he’s played — even with arguably the best player in the NFL, David Johnson, as his running back. But Carson’s still got some fight left in him, it appears, the drive to lose one more time fueling him as he embarks on his 14th season of being a good quarterback who just can’t get it done.
Am I rooting for Carson to finally make it to a Super Bowl, or am I rooting for him to further cement his status as a perennially better-than-average-but-still-somehow-mediocre QB? Not sure. How about I leave it at this — I hope he does make it to the Big Game so my smug ass has to eat crow, but if he doesn’t, that’d be way funnier..

Recurring theme with horrible USC quarterbacks

9 years ago at 8:33 pmOnly if he kills himself when the interview is over.
9 years ago at 8:34 pmUnfortunately Wally isn’t retiring just yet either, he has more shitty articles and BuzzFeed lists to force on us
9 years ago at 5:03 pmHe moves around in the pocket like it’s a puddle of molasses. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him lose the job to a draft pick/free agent pickup
9 years ago at 5:14 pmLarry needs to win a ring next year
9 years ago at 5:59 pmFitz is hands down the classiest man in the league.
9 years ago at 6:57 pmUnfortunately he plays in a conference with Green Bay, Dallas, and Atlanta
9 years ago at 7:38 pmGreen Bay is slowly unraveling, they almost lost the division to fucking Detroit. Dallas is Dallas, they’ll find a way to fuck things up. Atlanta is probably going to suffer from the same Cam Newton scenario when they play NE at Gillette, I’d say the Cards have a decent chance as long as Palmer’s knees don’t explode.
9 years ago at 4:45 pmDespite David Johnson’s amazing season it could have been infinitely better with a better QB.
9 years ago at 8:17 pmPalmer also had the misfortune of playing the better part of career in Cincinnati. So I wouldn’t say his career has been flush with opportunities to succeed. Also, fuck Marvin Lewis and the Red Rider BB gun.
9 years ago at 8:28 pmCincy still had the talent under Carson, just pure shit-for-brains coaching and the worst owner of all time, Mike Brown. But Carson still isn’t a consistent playmaker. He had a better team, better chance in Cincy.
9 years ago at 9:26 amCarson Palmer left Cincinnati because his house kept getting t-p’ed and his wife demanded they leave the city. True story.
9 years ago at 5:49 pmJust like that overtime playoff game he didn’t win last year, right?
