Cornell Dean Says An ISIS Student Organization Would Be Welcome On Campus In This Undercover Video

A Cornell dean is the subject of a mini controversy after a video released by Project Veritas, a conservative media group, showed him sanctioning an ISIS student organization on campus.

In the video, assistant dean of students Joseph Scaffido explains to a journalist posing as a prospective Moroccan student that ISIS and Hamas would be welcomed as student organizations on the Cornell campus.

After being asked multiple questions about the privileges of an ISIS or Hamas support group, including sending care packages and hosting speakers, the undercover journalist asked if the group would be allowed to host an “ISIS training session” for interested students.

“You would be allowed to do something like that. It’s just like bringing in a coach, to do a training, a sports trainer or something,” the Cornell dean responded.

Scaffido described the college town of Ithaca to be very liberal and open to diversified opinions.

Here is the video:

“The university is not going to look at different groups and say, ‘You’re not allowed to support that group because we don’t believe them’ or something like that. I think it’s just the opposite. I think the university wants the entire community to understand what’s going on in all parts of the world,” he says.

Scaffido isn’t saying anything particularly inflammatory, but his attempts at being politically correct may have backfired a bit. Cornell released this statement about the video to the New York Post:

“Cornell fully supports the free exchange of ideas and does not review or control the political ideology of our students. We do not, of course, tolerate unlawful advocacy of violence, and the comment about training by ISIS freedom fighters does not reflect university policy.”

Cornell has Air Force, Army, and Navy ROTC programs on campus. If this sack of shit let a damn ISIS training club or whatever the fuck onto their campus, Id bet all my money that those badass students in the ROTC program would kick those ISIS cowards ass.

This is another reason why i won’t pay for my kids to go to an Ivy-League school.

It is embarrassing that people are not smart enough to realize that the dean is the victim of a lunatic, fake journalist. The guy who made this video has openly admitted that he thinks there is a conspiracy within the Ivy League to support and recruit for Isis. This is such bullshit. The interviewer pretended to be a student, asked vague questions and edited the dean’s answers. I agree that the dean didn’t need to be so politically correct, but he absolutely does not support Isis on our campus.

Now the issue I see with all of this is in Cornell’s statement about the video…calling ISIS “Freedom fighters”? Really? Now this dean might have been screwed over on being politically correct but the university screwed the pooch on it’s statement in my opinion.

Saw a story today about how a Nebraska state senator said that Isis would be better to have around than cops

This is a retarded video. The interviewer never said ISIS. The dean was clearly unaware of what the student was asking and trying to be polite. He thought he was talking about some humanitarian club for the people of Iraq and Syria, not a terrorist group. This means nothing. Just some guy being an asshole.

Did anyone else notice how lost he looked throughout this conversation? This guy is clearly just uneducated and doesn’t know what the hell ISIS stood for. Not saying he’s in the right at all. Just saying he’s completely uneducated in this matter.

As a Cornell student, I was especially outraged by this when I first saw it. After watching it again, though, it really is terrible journalism and the dean might not have had any clue what he was saying. That being said, if he doesn’t know that Islamic State Iraq and Syria means ISIS, he has no place working at an Ivy League school. Also, Cornell is 25% Jewish, so this guy is going to have a very bad rest of the semester.
