Coroner’s Van “Malfunctions,” Sends Corpse Rolling Down Busy Street

The coroner is almost always an unwelcomed sight. He follows death and arrives at the most depressing of scenes. It’s rare to ever get a laugh out of something a coroner does, but even death can provide us with humor in the right circumstances.

Last Friday in Feasterville, Pa., a coroner’s van was heading down a busy highway, transporting a corpse strapped to a gurney. Just a typical day on the job, right? Nah. The next thing the driver saw was his back door opening and the gurney with the body strapped onto it rolling out of the van and onto one of the busiest highways in the city.

It was reminiscent of something straight out of a “Jackass” movie.

From Philly.com:

A photo, posted on Facebook by Bucks County resident Jerry Bradley, shows the corpse, wrapped in what appears to be a white sheet, lying in the street as cars buzz by. The Bucks County Coroner’s Office says the driver realized immediately that the door had opened and retrieved the body within minutes. The office says it “deeply regrets” the incident.

That’s fucked up. The poor bastard had to sit in traffic even after death.

Bradley, a passer-by who helped get the body into the van, said he thought it was a prank, calling it “the most bizarre thing” he’d ever seen.

Mr. Bradley said it best. This is, by far, one of the most bizarre incidents I’ve ever seen. Thank God it’s hilarious.

That man deserves a burial fit for a king.

In a job that requires a lot of seriousness, I’m laughing so hard I’m almost in tears.

“Let’s make sure we strap this asshole to the gurney with at least five straps. We don’t want him flying off!”
