Cubs Pitcher Throws 7 Scoreless Innings And Calls Himself "Badass" In Post Game Interview

Tsuyoshi Wada totes a record of 1-1 with a 3.68 ERA in six starts for the Cubs this season. He also doesn’t seem to speak a lick of English, hence why he uses a translator during his interviews. Last night, he kept the ever so potent Indians lineup in check with a line of 7 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 K in 107 pitches. A good performance for Wada.

In his post-game interview, he was asked what made the difference in the game. He kicked his translator to the side and tried his hand at English to describe himself.

I don’t think they were laughing because they actually thought you are a badass, Wada. I’m positive they were laughing at how asinine it was to call yourself a badass after one good outing. The fact that you didn’t even know what it means takes away from your self-proclamation. Side note: Wouldn’t it have been great if he said “I am shit” without knowing what it meant? That would have made for better entertainment value.

Maybe I’m spoiled because I’ve watched my Pirates throw 35.2 innings of scoreless baseball. Maybe I’m a realist. But when this is the first time in your career that you’ve gone seven innings allowing zero earned runs (against the Indians to boot), your first English words to the media should not label yourself as “badass.” If anything, you “were on.”

Stick with the translator, Wada.

Declaring yourself a master of something after successfully completing it once. TFM.

You’re a fan of the Pirates. Just because they happen to be playing well this week doesn’t mean they’re relevant.

They’ve made the playoffs the last two years and would again if the season ended today. I’d call that relevant. God I hate stupidity.

Yeah, only have the second best record in baseball since May 2nd. What’s it like being born an idiot?

You failed to mention it was against last place teams

Don’t why you’re knocking the guy. Even though it wasn’t intentional on his part because someone told him to do it, taking far more credit than is deserved is a TFM. Also, I enjoy non-English speaking Asians, they make me laugh.
