Cunt Punt Has Officially Resigned From Delta Gamma

We knew it was coming, and around 6pm eastern time on Wednesday, it came. Feel free to argue semantics over the the word “resigned,” but the fact of the matter is the originator of the greatest email ever sent is no longer a sorority member, and American Greek life has gotten a little darker because of it.

The silver lining for Rebecca is she doesn’t have to hang out with all those fucking AWKWARD and fucking BORING cockblocking boner-bitches anymore.

From the Delta Gamma Facebook page:

Delta Gamma has accepted the resignation of one of its members whose email relating to a social event has been widely distributed and publicized through social media and traditional media channels.

The tone and content of the email was highly inappropriate and unacceptable by any standard.

No matter who released it to the public or how it reached such a mass audience, the email content should not reflect on any sorority woman in general or any fraternal organization at large.

This is a regrettable action by a college junior – a personal email that is now on view for a global audience. And as all reasonable people can agree, this is an email that should never have been sent by its author. Period.

This email should not be depicted in any way as standard or routine or tied to any official sorority voice. It is not an official voice or message and should not be construed as such.

For the young woman who wrote it, we can only express our regret and concerns for landing notoriety in this manner.

We now consider this matter closed.

Well, we don’t. There is nothing on this earth I want more right now than a statement from Rebecca Martinson. Your Delta Gamma affiliation is no more. Rebecca, the floor is now yours.

What she did was wrong and grammatically appalling, BUT: I thought sisterhood was a bond that persevered through good AND bad. To see Delta Gamma publicly humiliate this girl with that “statement” rather than standing behind a woman who is a part of their organization. We all make silly decisions in college. I feel SO sorry for this girl…this just doesn’t seem right. Snaps to you Rebecca and shame on you DG for not standing behind your sister. So much for loyalty in today’s world!

I am glad I read through the comments before echoing this very sentiment. I want to put aside my usual crass demeanor and explicit candor for a moment and say that I could not agree more. This controversy can be viewed from many perspectives, each with different consequences depending on the context: DG Nationals sees it as a PR disaster, Ms. Martinson is obviously feeling the detrimental effects of her ill-gained notoriety, and her chapter is most likely mourning the fact that everyone will forever associate them with Sigma Nu. In all seriousness though, the maxims that separate Greeks from the rest of the world are predominantly based on the importance we place on brotherhood/sisterhood. I think I speak for most of you when I say that I consider my chapter a family, in every sense of the word. There are people I love, people I can’t stand, and people that I avoid eye-contact with when the topic of sex is brought up. As the well known TFM states, “Yes, there are guys in my chapter I don’t like. And yes, I will knock your ass out if you talk shit about them. TFM.” Imagine, just for a second, what would happen if half of the emails sent on a fraternity server saw the light of day. This controversy isn’t just an example of the effects social pressures can have on a Greek. More importantly, it is a testament to the importance of brotherhood/sisterhood and a perfect example of how easy a chapter can fall apart when those bonds are neglected. Okay, I’m done. Let the “lace em up”, “take a lap”, TL;DR, STFU, etc. comments begin…I look forward to it.

The problem is that nationals are more like a business now-a-days than actually being a national headquarters, so from a business perspective this makes sense, but that’s not how they should be thinking.

After reading the original Email on this site, I thought that she had a bad day and while still seeing red she sent this out to all of her sisters. Obviously she was in Some type of leadership role Given the fact that she access to her chapters mass Email system. I dont know about your chapters but those powers are reserved for exec. members. When someone is in a position of power and have a snap such as hers, all of your validity goes down the drain as soon as you hit send. This was a complete abuse of power and should be tolerated. My guess was that she was some type of sorority girl who can’t handle things when they don’t go exactly as planned, and went Menstruating Drill Sargent on her sisters. This conduct is unbecoming of any brother/sister at any time. Have I ever wanted to send messages of similar form, and rhetoric to my brothers? you bet your ass I have. that gets you nowhere really fucking fast. She was thinking too much in the here and now. She should have meditated on her reaction a little longer, and show more of a disappointment in her sorority rather than blind rage. Now if this Message was sent to their pledge class the context would have been perfectly suitable.

THIS original comment is the perfect example of TSM. The term ‘sisterhood’ isn’t supposed to be conditional, and the fact that DG essentially threw a sister under the bus to avoid a PR nightmare. I understand it being a tricky situation for Nationals, but I’m sick of every sorority girl trying to separate themselves from Rebecca Martinson like she’s not one of us. She earned her spot into Delta Gamma, and she cared about the same things as many other sorority girls. Rock on Rebecca, TFM Salutes you

I actually feel bad for her. I assume she got some heat from nationals over this whole thing but still, she just trying to be a leader. Isn’t every exec’s motive power and leadership? Anyways… I hope she lands on her feet because confidence speaks volumes in today’s world and she’s got it. Good luck to your future ms. cunt punt, we’re pulling for you.
