Drunk Man Fires Gun At Sigma Chi House Over Loud Music

The frustration of living within earshot of a Sam Houston State University fraternity house finally boiled over for Dagoberto Avila, 45, of Huntsville, Texas.

Avila lives close to the Sigma Chi house, and I’m guessing the loud music he heard Friday night was the straw that broke the camel’s back sort of situation. Being 45 years old and living close to a fraternity house, watching herds of 19-year-old college girls walk past his crib on the regular, listening to people live the life he’s no longer capable of living–it has to take a toll on your psyche.

Because of loud music, Avila fired a warning shot at the fraternity house. I don’t mean that in the metaphorical sense, either. I mean that he quite literally fired a warning shot at the house.

From The Huntsville Item:

Officers with the Huntsville Police Department were dispatched to the Sigma Chi fraternity house in the 200 block of FM 980 about 10:15 p.m. on Friday concerning a report of a person with a weapon.

According to police reports, 45-year-old Dagoberto Avila was upset that people at the fraternity house were playing music too loud and displayed a firearm before shooting it in the direction of the home.

He was arrested and booked on a deadly conduct charge, which is a third degree felony. According to Lieutenant Jim Barnes of the Huntsville Police Department, “Mr. Avila had been drinking and could have been intoxicated.”

It’s an atypical day when it’s the fraternity calling the cops to come to the party.

I love when locals get angry when they move near a fraternity house and it isn’t as quiet and peaceful as they expect
