Enormous Brawl Erupts Between Dodgers And Diamondbacks, Features Legends Of Baseball’s Past
Vin Scully, the Dodgers famed play-by-play legend, has seen his fair share of baseball brawls in his lifetime, but last night’s showdown with the Diamondbacks probably had him guessing what year the game he was calling was taking place in. The second bench clearer the Dodgers have been involved in this year featured the likes of ’80s and ’90s legends Mark McGwire, Kirk Gibson, Stevie Sax, Matt Williams, Alan Trammell, and of course, Los Angeles manager Don Mattingly.
The wheels were set in motion for the feud to escalate when a 6th inning Ian Kennedy pitch rocketed off the nose of Dodger rising superstar Yasiel Puig.

Puig was lucky to be able to shake it off after a few minutes and take his well-earned bag at first, later scoring on an Andre Ethier homer to tie the game 2-2.
As retribution, DBack’s catcher Miguel Montero received a bean ball from Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke (who in his own right was responsible for sparking the bench clearer against the Padres two months ago) to lead off the 7th. This prompted a small on-field confrontation, which was quickly suppressed. However, in the bottom of the 7th, Kennedy, who going into the evening had been responsible for drilling 39 batters since 2010, was still in the game and came in high and tight, catching him in the shoulder, causing all hell to break loose.
Here’s the brawl in its entirety, called by Scully.
Ian Kennedy and the Diamondbacks manager were immediately ejected, then following the brawl, so were Mark McGwire, Yasiel Puig and Turner Ward. Los Angeles went on to win the game 5-2, but it’s assured nobody in the locker room could give a damn about that after this one was over.
Today is undoubtedly going to be a busy one for Bud Selig and the rest of the staff in the Commissioner’s office, and tensions are sure to still be running high as the Dodgers send out Hyun-Jin Ryu to face Patrick Corbin in tonight’s series endcap.

Baseball needs more of this shit. This used to happen a lot more in the good ole days but has since become a rarity, damn fuckin’ shame.

Looked like a soccer game if you looked at the stands
12 years ago at 4:30 pmI don’t think you know what the word “brawl” means. This would be more exciting if baseball player’s were actually athletic and could really fight. Baseball sucks.

12 years ago at 12:45 amI’ve always wanted to see the batter charge the mound with the bat still in his hands. Just to see the pitchers “Holy fucking shit I’m dead” look on his face.
