ETSU Student Arrested At Black Lives Matter Protest For Wearing A Gorilla Mask And Holding Bananas

East Tennessee State University freshman Tristan Rettke was charged with civil rights intimidation after showing up to a Black Lives Matter campus protest wearing a gorilla mask carrying around rope and bananas. The 18-year-old Rettke stated that he wanted to “provoke the protestors.”

Rettke’s clearly having a hard time adjusting to a new school. It doesn’t appear that he has any friends, because otherwise he’d have someone tell him how moronic of an idea this was or he’d be too busy doing something like actually enjoying his college experience.

And I’ll just come out and say it: People should be allowed to be idiots and openly racist in this country, but with one caveat. The people you’re going out of your way to offend should then be able to kick the ever living shit out of you with no legal ramifications.

An arrest for civil right intimidation? The kid is reveling in the attention he was acting out for to begin with. But the potential consequence of a circle drill with a bunch of mammoth Omega Psi Phis and Tristan’s leaving his monkey mask and bananas at home, no questions asked.

This couldn’t have been the worst crime to happen at a Black Lives Matter Protest

If he was shouting about Harambe during it then he deserved to be arrested.

Those BLM protesters don’t look very enthusiastic. Has protesting become like a job for them?

I was laughing watching that. The balls that gorilla has is amazing. Can you imagine the campus police having to call his parents and explain what their son did? Freshman.

If there was a protest for something for white people (which obviously wouldn’t happen) and someone showed up in a black panther outfit holding up the black panther salute they would be praised for being brave.
