Fantasy Football Sleeper Picks For 2016

After all of the juggernaut players are taken up in the first few rounds, you’ll need some good picks to round out your team. These are some players that will go in the mid to late rounds in most leagues, and will net you more than enough points to make up for the investment. Check out my lists of players to avoid and breakout candidates, as well.

Jarvis Landry, Miami Dolphins WR

I’m starting off with a more well-known guy, but nonetheless a guy who isn’t garnering anywhere near the amount of attention he should be getting. The former LSU receiver has caught 194 passes since entering the league two years ago, which is good for the NFL record in receptions for a player’s first two years. He has also made an impact as a punt returner, making it hard to pass up on his production.

Doug Baldwin, Seattle Seahawks WR

Baldwin has emerged as the Seahawks’ go-to option at receiver, and managed to tie Brandon Marshall and Allen Robinson for the league lead in receiving touchdowns with 14. Once the initial wave of blue-chip receivers like Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham are all off the board, Baldwin looks to be a solid option.

Kamar Aiken, Baltimore Ravens WR

Yet another underrated receiver, Kamar Aiken posted solid numbers in the wake of injuries to both Joe Flacco and Steve Smith. Despite the return of the ageless Smith, Aiken should still see plenty of snaps in Marc Trestman’s offense. Look at him as a viable 3rd option at receiver.

Anquan Boldin, Free Agent WR

Speaking of ageless receivers, Anquan Boldin has been a workmanlike presence in many an offense for the last decade, going up to make tough catches in jump-ball situations. His production last year with the 49ers (69 catches, 789 yards, 4 TDs) doesn’t match the seasons he had in his prime down in Arizona, but he’ll still be available in the later rounds assuming he does sign with a team this year.

Gary Barnidge, Cleveland Browns TE

After spending years as a journeyman tight end, Gary Barnidge posted a monster season with the Cleveland Browns last year. He finished with 79 catches for 1,043 yards and 9 touchdowns, which made for one of the best stat lines of any tight end last year. There are questions as to whether he can do it all again at age 30, but Barnidge should be a low-risk prospect for your team.

Theo Riddick, Detroit Lions RB

While Riddick hasn’t contributed much in the way of rushing yards since entering the league in 2013, he managed to catch 80 passes last year for the Lions. He’ll be available until the final few rounds, where he would make for a good backup option at the running back position.

Charles Sims, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB

Sims is another strong option for a receiving back, posting 561 receiving yards and four touchdowns to go along with 529 rushing yards. What adds to the possible upside is the high likelihood of starter Doug Martin getting injured.

Case Keenum, LA Rams QB

Laugh at this one all you want, but Keenum has a lot of starting experience under his belt and posted an 87.7 Quarterback Rating in limited action last season. I can actually see a sizable chance that Keenum is the week 1 starter for the Rams, as Jared Goff is unlikely to be ready to roll by then. The offense will rely primarily on stud RB Todd Gurley, but Keenum is not a bad option under center.

LA Rams Defense

Despite the Rams’ ineptitude on offense last season, they boast one of the most talented defenses in the league. They have Aaron Donald, one of the best defensive players in the entire NFL, as well as plenty of talent on all three levels..
