FGCU Making NCAA Tourney History One Amazing Dunk At A Time
Until last night, a 15th seed had never made it to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament since it began in 1939.
Enter the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles to rewrite March Madness lore.
Virtually unknown to America prior to the tourney, FGCU has defied critics and analysts alike with a run that’s seen them knock off #2 seeded Georgetown and #7 seeded San Diego State with 10-point victories in both contests. Going from off the map to the national spotlight overnight, these kids have won them some conditional underdog fandom all across the board.
Conditional on the fact that they keep jumping out of the fucking building.
Seriously, if you’ve watched the tourney, you know how insane the dunks are that the Azuls have been cranking back. These dunks are comparable to maybe only the physics defying air-mailed dish to throw downs showcased by the Stockton-to-Malone alleyoop connection in NBA Jam ’94.
Courtesy of the guys at Deadspin, every single one of FGCU’s posterizing post season dunks has been cut together for your viewing pleasure.
These dudes can flat out play, and it exudes in their celebrations.
Well I’ll tell you what: if I ever find myself in a position to against all odds defy history, I might just have to resort to the chicken cluck too. Classic move.
These guys are cool as ice because they know how good they are, and I respect that. End of the day, they just love to win and have fun, and they’ve proved to crazy entertaining to watch. Unless you’re a Gator fan, at this point there’s no reason not to pull for Florida Gulf Coast to continue on with their record-breaking run.
Show me more dunks and clucks, Azuls!

They beat an extremely overrated Georgetown team as well as some shit west coast team, so I am not ready to give them a ton of respect just yet. Those dunks, though… Those dunks are insane.
