Finally, The Sequel To “Super Troopers” Is Happening
The Broken Lizard guys are finally making it happen. After only a scant 13 years, they’re making a sequel to “Super Troopers,” the movie that put them on the map. In the interim years, all of the guys have become pretty damn successful, both together and apart, but they’ve always wanted to come back to the thing that made them popular.
“You know, it was a combination of having to settle some of the legal disputes about making a sequel, while also negotiating terms for it,” said Steve Lemme (AKA Mac, AKA Fink). This is a surprise to basically no one. It seems that getting sequels for movies that are directly tied to the creativity of a select few people are getting harder and harder to get off the ground–“Anchorman 2” and “Dumb and Dumber To” come to mind, given that the sequels took nine and 20 years, respectively.
I hope the Broken Lizard fellas are looking at those two films as cautionary tales, too. “Anchorman 2” was pretty not good, and “Dumb and Dumber To,” while we have yet to see it, isn’t inspiring much confidence from the trailers released so far. However, these guys are comedy pros, and they’ve been making phenomenal films since “Super Troopers,” so I’m giving these chicken fuckers the benefit of the doubt..

11 years ago at 11:25 amHey Bacon, what’s the name of that restaurant you like with all the goofy shit on the walls and the mozzarella sticks?
11 years ago at 1:35 pmAll but one of Broken Lizard are Betas from Colgate. From what I’ve heard the first showing of Super Troopers wasn’t a big Hollywood style premier but a showing to the brothers back at the house. It would be pretty damn commendable if they did that again and paid homage to their greek roots.
