Florida Defensive End “Commit” Has Yet To Actually Commit, Dad Is Cockblocking The Gators
CeCe Jefferson donned a University of Florida hat yesterday and signed a letter of intent to play defensive end for the Gators’ football team on TV. It sounds legit, but apparently until Jefferson faxes in this letter, it’s not.
Preventing the five-star defensive end from sending the fax is assumed to be his father, Leo Jefferson. Leo was quoted as saying, “I won’t let him [fax the letter].” So it’s pretty safe to say that’s actually the case. However, Rivals reported that CeCe himself wasn’t ready to sign. Conflicting reports from different journalists have also been tweeted:
Five-star DE CeCe’s Jefferson father, Leo: “You tell the Gainesville Sun that he isn’t going to fax it in. I won’t let him.”

Just received a text from Leo, the father of CeCe Jefferson, stating that he isn’t refusing to sign his son’s letter. No other response yet.

Papa Jefferson has expressed his desire for his son to venture farther from home, as Gainesville is less than an hour from where they live. He has also stated that he has to sign off on the NLI, even though CeCe is 19.
Adding to the mystery, Florida’s defensive line coach, Terrell Williams, is reportedly leaving the Gators for a position with the Miami Dolphins. The Jeffersons claim they had no idea about the personnel change regarding the coaching staff and they don’t feel comfortable with the university and its decisions.
“The staff should have considered being honest with us about the [coaching] change,” Leo said. “They haven’t pursued CeCe nearly as hard as others and I’m not sure why.”
Jefferson will still be held to his NLI, should it be sent to the school. His parents have expressed that they’d be “on board” if CeCe chooses Florida after all.
But he signed the NLI yesterday and still hasn’t faxed it 24 hours later. That’s a little suspicious. I don’t know, maybe this all actually has to do with money and they are using the coaching change as a façade. CeCe also made official visits to Auburn, Ole Miss, and Alabama. While most everything is under the table when it comes to paying athletes, you have to assume with a fair amount of certainty that the alumni of these football powerhouses want to keep winning and will pay the athletes to do so.
Does Leo just want to cash in on his son’s athletic successes? Can you blame him if that’s the case? Manipulating his son’s future solely for financial gain is a classic “living vicariously through my kid” dad move. He probably snuck whey protein and creatine into his son’s baby formula solely to get to this point. Is it really that far-fetched to think Nick Saban called up the Jefferson household last night?
“Hey, CeCe! Listen here, son. Let’s hold off on sending that ol’ pesky letter to the Gators, ya hear? I think we could offer you a little something extra in the realm of financial aid, so just hold tight. Is your dad around? Leo, my friend, you want a new fucking car? That’s what I thought. Don’t send that fax. We’ll talk tomorrow.” (hangs up, laughs maniacally)
Hell, a rival coach could have broken the news about the coaching change to the Jeffersons and that’s what stopped him from faxing last night. The essence of this story is that no one really knows what the fuck is going on, and no schools are permitted to comment on unsigned athletes. Until CeCe finally faxes that letter to whichever school he ends up choosing, we won’t get to hear both sides of the story, if ever..

From what I’ve read, it sounds like his dad being the main reason he hasn’t sent his letter is exaggerated. Based on CeCe’s Twitter, he had no idea the DL coach was leaving, which is pretty sketchy on UF’s part.

Gators are miserably contemptuous.
