With the fun and excitement of everyday life on a college campus comes at least one very sobering fact: it is loaded to the brim with potential victims. With social awareness at an all-time low, and creepy motherfuckers lurking among us, it only becomes a question of when, not if.

The legal system failed us when it released 24-year-old Patrick Furman onto the streets of Tallahassee, Florida. He was fresh off of five years in lockup after being convicted of aggravated battery with intended harm and escaping a treatment program. Only three days after he was released from Gadsden County Prison, he found himself back in cuffs in the custody of the Florida State University Police Department.

Yesterday, just after midnight, Furman approached a young woman from behind and began grabbing her chest and attempted to pull her away with him. As the victim struggled, several Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity brothers were walking near the Oglesby Student Union when they unknowingly walked into a crime in progress. That’s when he released the victim, and the fraternity brothers gave chase.

From WTXL:

Police said some of the fraternity members began to chase Furman, who ran toward DeGraff Hall. A public service officer was also able to get the suspect’s description from the fraternity members.

The felonious idiot was captured shortly afterward thanks to the information provided by the brothers. As he ran, he approached an undercover Florida State University police officer and asked to get in the unmarked cruiser. The officer granted his request and took him into custody.

The chief of the FSU Police Department praised the brothers’ actions.

FSU Police Chief David Perry says they are grateful for the students’ action to help a fellow student in distress. “With their help, and swift coordination with our uniformed and plainclothes officers, FSU stood united to stop this offender and ensure he was taken into custody. We want to say loudly and clearly that anyone who seeks to harm our students will be dealt with using every resource we have.”

Furman was charged with felony kidnapping and aggravated assault.

CNN is incredibly left leaning. They hate us, we could cure cancer and end world hunger and still not make it on CNN

It’s the thoughts of people like you that make fraternities sound like racist organizations, get the fuck out.

Being intimidating enough for someone to run, not being in good enough shape to catch them, still emerging as the hero. TFM.
