Florida State President Has Solid Response To Presidential Candidate Marco Rubio Calling FSU A Safety School
During a radio interview in Iowa Monday, Presidential candidate and University of Florida grad Marco Rubio took a shot at Florida State, essentially calling it a safety school.
From the Palm Beach Post:
“Look, I don’t have anything against Florida State,” Rubio said. “I think there has to be a school where people that can’t get into Florida can go to college. And that’s why we have Florida State.”
He’s not wrong. FSU is 100 percent a safety school — but that doesn’t mean Seminoles everywhere have to tolerate being called out by a politician. FSU prez John Thrasher was having none of it. He responded to Rubio’s claim with a scorching burn of his own.
Thrasher caught wind of the comments and fired back today.
“He’s a nice kid,” Thrasher said of Rubio. “I’m sure he’s frustrated by his low standing in the polls, which I believe could be a reflection of where he got his education.”
Thrasher served with Rubio in Florida legislature and both have served as Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives.
Rubio earned his law degree from the University of Miami — so the dude probably hates FSU two times over.
The Presidential candidate went into full damage control mode on Twitter — because if there is one fan-base I’d be terrified of alienating on social media, it’s #FSUTwitter. Those fans are shockingly gross and disturbing — basically an online representation of the entire landfill swampland that is “Florida.”
But we are still going to #BeatFSU

College football brings out the best in everyone. For what it’s worth, every school in Florida is a safety school..

Holt, are you a certified dipshit? Acceptance rates at UF and UM are not high whatsoever.
