Former LSU Acacia Pledge Details Hazing Experience After Chapter Indefinitely Suspended
We almost made it a week. It has been six days since we last reported on a fraternity being removed from campus. Last week, Pi Kappa Phi at NC State was suspended after restaurant employees discovered a pledge book full of offensive content. I genuinely believed we’d reach a full week without watching another chapter disappear from its respective campus, but it appears as if LSU’s Acacia chapter isn’t going to let us reach that milestone.
On Tuesday, it was reported that the chapter was “indefinitely suspended” following claims of behavioral misconduct. As the university investigates the chapter, a YouTube video detailing the alleged hazing was posted on the website of LSU’s school newspaper, The Daily Reveille.
The former Acacia pledge discusses his Hell Week experience that included eating dog food, excessive smoking, and forced exercises.
The former pledge who reporting the hazing claims that he did so to protect others, but he has paid the price for his reports.
From LSU Reveille:
In December he wrote an email detailing his experiences to the Associate Director of Greek Life, Jonathan Sanders
He says his main motive in writing the email is to warn other students about the pledge process.
Since the email, he has received several threats on social media and his car was vandalized. Police are currently investigating the damages to his car, but he believes Acacia members acted out in retaliation.
The national organization has not yet commented on the allegations..
The national organization has finally commented on the allegations. They decided to officially remove Acacia off of campus.
The Acacia national office released a statement today announcing the closure of the University chapter after reported violations of the fraternity’s standards and policies related to the treatment of its members.

11 years ago at 1:20 pmI honestly don’t understand this, you pledge a fraternity to be with a group of people that you want to be closer with than any group of people in the world and this is absolutely ridiculous. Part of becoming closer with people is experiencing the same thing as them however people need to realize that the severity of the situation does not correspond to the strength of the bond. The point of hazing is peeling away the outer layer of a person and seeing their true character and creating a lifelong bond between brothers. Being put through mild humiliation to break someone down, stupid tasks to show dedication and sacred rituals to pass down tradition is what does this. Not eating shit or drinking till you die. You show your dedication to your brothers and your fraternity by coming through it closer with your brothers and a better man than you were before. If you are physically harming someone who you one day hope to call a brother, killing someone with so much respect for your fraternity that he risks his life to join or putting someone in a situation where they feel like it is not worth living you are not hazing, not bonding not creating a better man, you are terrorizing another human who is helpless which is just down right fucked up. I don’t care what fraternity you are from, there is no way your founding fathers poured their heart, soul and values into creating a fraternity so you could terrorize a kid who just wants to be like you. Get it together people, this is not why I joined a fraternity and hopefully others feel the same because of this stupidity continues Greek life isn’t going to be around too much longer.
11 years ago at 2:44 pmThe chapter had over 50 pledges (one with one arm), and initiated more than 90%. The LSU reveille does a piss poor job on covering both sides of the story, as all of this is coming from one kid’s word who quit the fraternity in which no one liked him. This is just another example of the pussification of America. Things were not that hard if so many kids made it through pledgeship. This one kid was just out to destroy this fraternity.
