Former University Of Cincinnati Volleyball Player Says She Was Booted From Team For Looking Too Hot On Instagram
Maybe it’s just me, but if you are older than 18 and living away from home, I think, as long as it doesn’t harm anyone else, you should be able to make your own decisions. Like if I want to skip class every Friday to play Fortnite, I should be able to do so without judgment from my fellow peers or professors. We’ve already made a colossal mistake committing to such an impossible day, teach.
The same rule should apply to girls and their Instagram accounts. It’s no secret around here that if a girl wants to get off a sexy fit for the Gram, we fully support that. Who are we to tell them what they can and cannot wear? Women’s empowerment is the name of the game, and we’ll proudly fly that flag daily. But it turns out the University of Cincinnati Women’s Volleyball program does not subscribe to our way of thinking.
From New York Post:
A former University of Cincinnati volleyball player is suing the school, claiming she was kicked off the team because she posted photos on Instagram that her coach said were “too sexy.”
Nineteen-year-old Shalom Ifeanyi filed the lawsuit in federal court last week, alleging racial and sex discrimination by the university and volleyball coach Molly Alvey.
The former volleyball player was removed from the team because she did not fit the “biased image” of a UC volleyball player, Ifeanyi alleged in her lawsuit.
The lawsuit also contains screenshots of a text conversation that are alleged to be between Ifeanyi and Alvey discussing the former UC athlete’s social media postings.
I don’t know whether or not this was some form of bias as Shalom claims it to be, but regardless of their reasoning, it’s an issue. She wasn’t posting nudes or anything of the sort. From what I’ve been able to gather (not much since her account has since turned private) after tireless hours of research, she was just letting the girls hang out a bit like almost every other Instagram post ever. In fact, The Daily Mail has obtained screenshots of the alleged conversations asking her to take down these supposedly outrageous photos.
freestar.queue.push(function () { googletag.display(‘totalfratmove_300x250_336x280_320x50_320x100_incontent_1’); });
Don’t you have better things to worry about, coach? Like perhaps the below five hundo record your team posted this season? 13-19 to be exact. Not the biggest women’s volleyball expert, but that seems bad and not good. And I don’t want to play into the double standard of it all, but it would take a hell of a lot more than a questionable social media post to get a football or basketball player dismissed from the team.
It’s a crime to try and suppress these girls’ rights to bless our timelines. This is a stand worth taking..
