Frat Cops 3: Hazement Day- Our favorite heroes of Frat Cops team #69 have just been promoted to FRAT SWAT. Their mission: haze the entire GDI audience of a Nickelback concert. Spoiler alert (Officer Will Harris turns out to be a double agent named Sasha, Bacon murders him with a katana, Pulp Fiction post rape style).
Hey Mastercraft, go put on your flatbilled hat and drink Joose and hangout with all the ‘West Coast frat’ guys. There’s more than one niche of ‘frat humor’ in videos, and the TFM videos serve to offer different types. That’s our goal. Tatro can be funny as hell, but he can also be cringe-worthy. But that’s okay, because we’re not him and he’s not us.
Explain your comment of me putting on a flat billed hat and hanging out with west coast frat guys then? Doesn’t matter, either way your videos still suck.
^He is inferring that if you like Tatro so much and want him in the videos, you might as well dress like him and go hang out with them. Suck his dick too.
You know what, you piss me off, go run some fucking laps, and don’t run your mouth to Atomic.
Look, I’m gonna be honest with you because I like you. The only good video to ever come from the TFM staff was the very first one. Remember that? Remember how it quantified fraternity life? Every video you made from then on will always be compared to that one, which is why your videos suck ass. Hire a new writer or give it the fuck up.
Let’s all calm down here, videos are just something extra to spice up the regular deluge of columns. And they’re entertaining, which is the whole reason you come to this site.
I remember the first video. I remember it because it took over two months to produce. It took thousands of dollars and hundreds of extras to ‘sell’ well. It took careful planning, lighting, and shooting. And, when that shooting didn’t work, it took reshooting. It took casting, location scouting, and sure, partying. It took an exhaustive production and the most talented assembly of crew I know to undertake it. I remember it like this, because I made it. Directed and produced. I also wrote it, sure. But when all is said and done, I have the experience and sense to know that the ‘writer’ on a video production is not the person that dictates the quality of the final product in any major way; and that’s asinine to assume. It’s all those pieces coming together in the right way. And that’s something we all, at least try, to bring to EVERY TFM video. Frat Cops 2 is no exception, and I hope that shows.
Allow me to clarify. It wasn’t my intention to offend you. I realize that a lot of work goes into these things, I’m just proposing a change of scenery. Let me tell you something about the viewer base of these videos. Most of them are still undergrads – we’re still experiencing the fraternity life first hand. The reason people think Jimmy Tatro is funny is because he is too. We don’t want to see videos about how lame post-grad life is playing ping pong in our office until we die of years of alcohol abuse, or about how two guys in polo shirts go beat up a hippy. Jimmy’s fraternity rush video was hilarious because most of us have experienced the stupid interviews and sat in that same room where people yell at projector screens and throw things at each other. That’s why I say this has more to do with the writing than the production. The production of this video was fine, but the idea should’ve been scrapped.
For example, you could do a video that follows a house manager around at a registered party and watch him try desperately to stop brothers from kicking holes in walls and doing coke while the cops are doing a walk-through. Then at the end, he could catch some pledge getting blown in the storage closet and then proceed to haze the living shit out of him for it. Maybe it’s not the best idea, but it’s an example. We want to see videos that parody things we’ve experienced as members of the greek system. Run with it – I know you’re capable.
And stop bitching about how hard the first one was, its your fucking job, do it that well every time or they will find someone who can (this is obviously the weakest segment of the website, sure with all the expansions and new segments this is going to cross managements mind if it hasn’t already)
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure Atomic Productions is contracted to do these. If you look for them on YouTube, they’ve done some pretty entertaining movie trailer parodies. Since they’re based in Texas and they have the staff, equipment, and technical know-how, it was probably an easy sell for Grandex.
I think with the right focus, this partnership is sitting on a gold mine of opportunity. I just hope we can get through to them and turn their bad luck into a success story.
