Some people are simply assholes. Brotherhood be damned, they will do as they please with no concern for their brothers, chapter, or fraternity. It’s never easy turning a brother over to the police, but in some cases, he deserves everything that happens as a consequence of his actions.

A University of Nebraska–Lincoln Theta Chi was taken into custody by police last week after it was discovered that he had written checks totaling nearly $9,000 of fraternity funds to himself for personal use.

From NBC Nebraska:

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police say 20-year-old Dakota Grimm was treasurer of the Theta Chi fraternity since March 2014. They say during that time he stole a total of $8,941.20 from the organization by writing 29 checks then keeping the money.

How do you knowingly steal from the pockets of your brothers? Only a conscienceless scumbag has the ability to pull off such a crime.

Reports claim that members of his own chapter were the ones to report him to the police. An utterly awful call for any brother to make. While his police report does not state much, he was charged with felony theft.

According to the Daily Nebraskan, Grimm has confessed to the crime.

Grimm gave “a full verbal confession” and “provided his fraternity with a handwritten confession admitting theft in the approximate amount of $5000-$6500,” the affidavit said.

Grimm posted $2,500 bond and was out of jail at the end of the week. If convicted, Grimm faces up to 20 years in prison.

That’s what he gets for stealing from brothers. I bet he’ll get off easy and won’t serve any jail time

He looks a lot like Toronto mayor, Rob Ford. Is he using the money for crack?

The treasurer shouldn’t be a signatory at all president and Vice President or secretary.

Someone at my chapter did the same thing. After we discovered what he was doing, we simply ‘cornered’ him and told him he had to the weekend to return the money. He called his father / we did not call the police and it was settled within a few days. Needless to say, he was not very active after this event …

Only the lowest of the low would steal from a brother, let alone the chapter. Hope he doesn’t get off Scott free and learns his lesson.
