Fresno State Professor Promptly Suspended For Trashing Barbara Bush Hours After Death

We live in a time where unwarranted public outrage is a way of life. Whether it’s based in politics, religion, or just being an unpleasant asshole, people always seem to be up in a tizzy about something. But no matter what side of the coin you fall on, I believe we can all agree that recent comments made by one Fresno State professor are completely out of line. Hours after Barbara Bush’s death, this kind soul made the brave and honorable decision to fire off a tweet storm insulting the former first lady.

This real winner has since turned her verified account to private, but the Internet never forgets.

Wow. I’m not sure that there is a more aggressive way to voice your displeasure with a dead person. In the words of Alan Garner, “How dare you, she’s a nice lady!” Regardless of what you thought of her, Barbara Bush was a frail old woman who drank bourbon. Let her get one foot in the grave before you start disrespecting her name.

Of course, this tweet sparked some controversy, but this girl Randa wasn’t going to take her foot off the gas. In fact, she doubled down on her stance, stating that the school would back her up on it.

Be careful what you wish for. Tag the president they did, and therein came the apology that started this whole thread.

Turns out that they too take her very public comments on a verified account to be “private” and “personal.” Makes sense. Glad to see them taking a real hardline stance here (sigh).

The University has placed Professor Jarrar on indefinite leave until this presumably all blows over. At which point, she will go back to her job of shaping young minds. Here’s to hoping she really does leave those personal opinions at home..
