George Jung, Famous From The Film “Blow,” Was Released From Prison Today

Boston George, as he was known in the cocaine distribution circles he used to run, was released from prison today.

Jung is finally a free man after serving nearly twenty years in Otisville Federal Prison, La Tuna Federal Correction Facility, and the Fort Dix Federal Correction Facility, respectively. He became a household name after Jonny Depp, a close friend of George’s, portrayed him alongside Penelope Cruz in the 2001 film “Blow,” one of the best drug movies of our time.

In his prime (the late 1970s), Boston George was responsible for roughly 85% of all the cocaine your parents probably did in college, and was bringing in close to $250,000 in profit per month.

When Jung was arrested in 1994 after being set-up by a former smuggling partner, he was in possession of 1,754 pounds of cocaine – well over $2 million dollars in street value. Ultimately, he was sentenced to sixty years in federal prison. However, as a result of numerous exceptional behavior reviews, a clearly rehabilitated 71-year-old Boston George is free to do whatever his heart desires today.

Not many men can say they’ve lived a life with as many highs and lows. From having it all, to losing it all, partying with dictators and celebrities, and having his story shared with the world via an award winning film, Boston George’s life is truly one of a kind.

Here’s to you and your freedom today, George – “May the wind always be at your back, and the sun upon your face. And may the winds of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.”
