Georgia Takes A Stand Against Snobby Environmentalists, Charges Fee For Buying A Hybrid
If there’s one type of driver I hate more than a douchebag in a shiny, chromed-out luxury pickup truck that has never touched a speck of dirt and takes up two parking spaces (seriously man, you live in a city — there’s no need to put six foot wheels on the F-150 your daddy bought you on your sweet 16), it’s the smug environmentalist show-off behind the wheel of a Prius.
Despite being very outspoken, these drivers — much like the hybrid cars they drive — are often unheard (aside from the two followers of their blog, DoYourPart.wordpress.com). To compensate, they slap as many pro-environment stickers on the hideously-shaped backs of their Priuses as possible. Stickers with powerful messages like, “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Respect,” and “Join the Anti-Pollution Revolution.” Holy lord, nothing makes me wish they still made Hummers more than a snobby, condescending environmental bumper sticker. “Look at me, my car uses one-fourth less gasoline than yours does – I’m so much better than you!” Stick your dick in a tree inhabited with angry squirrels.
Georgia is annoyed by those pretentious ass cakes, too, and they’re finally taking a stand. The state is about to pass a law that will require hybrid vehicle buyers to pay an additional $200 fee. Granted, politicians claim that the law is to compensate for the lack of gas taxes hybrid owners pay, but there are more far-reaching and crucial implications — namely, putting an end to environmentalists rubbing our noses in their false sense of entitlement.
It’s a small step towards ridding our environment of harmful and toxic tree-huggers, but every little bit helps. You too can support the cause by flipping off a hybrid driver today. Or, do what the “Akron Pooper” does, and follow that son of a bitch to his or her house, and then, under cover of darkness, shit all over their hood. #DoYourPart..

10 years ago at 6:06 pmThanks for letting us know.
10 years ago at 6:48 pmWhy would you write an article that praises shit bag politicians raising taxes on people doing a sensible thing.
10 years ago at 5:46 pmDon’t get me wrong, I don’t like the hippies bragging about the “vegetable powered car” either, but let’s be honest they’re doing some good by not polluting. Why should they be punished?
10 years ago at 5:56 pmOn the other hand, the gas taxes that other drivers pay goes towards a road maintenance fund that the governor has recently stated needs to reach 1 billion dollars yearly here in GA. If they aren’t purchasing gas, therefor not contributing to the fund in the same manner, I don’t see an issue with finding an alternative way to have them contribute to maintaining roads that they will also be using.
10 years ago at 6:42 pmThey’re also debating about raising the gas taxes the last I heard (which was a month or two ago)
10 years ago at 7:08 pmI don’t know about GA but this is a fairly common scam by politicians. They claim revenues from a certain tax go toward some specific use like road maintenance. Then they use those funds for pet projects, political payoffs and other quid pro quo arrangements that benefit only a few. Any time a politician says they are raising taxes on someone else, you better put your hand on your wallet. They’re coming after you next.
10 years ago at 8:48 amThe “vegetable powered” cars still produce CO2. the use 100% ethanol (vegetable oil) instead of gasoline.

10 years ago at 7:01 pmA: Many people get an income tax credit when they buy a hybrid or electric over a gas or diesel vehicle on top of the sales tax credits. B: It is not more environmentally friendly to drive an electric car because overnight they plug their cars into an electrical outlet that is probably power by a coal or gas burning power plant.
10 years ago at 10:51 pmYeah but a large scale power plant is many times more efficient than your car small car engine. Plus night isn’t a peak time for energy usage anyways. Also over the course of the cars life a gasser will be more polluting than a hybrid car even though a hybrid car has a higher pollution imprint off the lot
10 years ago at 10:23 pmElectric cars and hybrids produce more waste than standard vehicles. Although these cars appear to get better fuel mileage, one must take into account that when you combine the waste during production, operation, and later disposal these cars are worse for the environment. Batteries don’t last forever, and a fair portion of the hybrids in use have batteries that are considered hazardous waste once their time is up. If you ask me, this tax isn’t high enough.
10 years ago at 9:20 amJokes aside this seems unconstitutional
10 years ago at 5:49 pmBeing seen driving a prius is punishment enough. This is amazingly counterproductive.
10 years ago at 6:00 pmThis law is inherently un-American. Don’t know why you’re praising it.
10 years ago at 6:39 pmWhy punish somebody that is helping the environment by simply driving a car.
10 years ago at 8:34 pmWhile I don’t like the car’s style, the people driving it save the environment we do like 90% of our activities in. Stupid fuckin law
10 years ago at 10:50 pmDon’t know how this is news. States across America have a law or tax to anyone with a hybrid due to the money they lose from purchasing less gas. Which part of goes toward maintaining the roads in each state.

10 years ago at 8:08 amI work for an EV company and maybe half a dozen states charge a fee for owning a hybrid or electric vehicle. There’s a $7,500 federal tax credit for buying one in the first place – and some states like CA, CO, HI, etc. have additional credits on top of that. In LOUISIANA of all places you can claim up to 30% of the price of the car in tax credits. Do some research on how the Koch brothers are backing EV companies and write an article about that – far more influential and important than a $200 fee in Georgia.
