Looking at some of these comments it is clear that both sides of this argument are very ignorant in a historical sense. Considering I am an History major with a a focus on Antebellum South and Civil War, let me educate you. The North heavily outnumbered the south and had a much larger spending budget than the south. This was because the Union was an organized force and was back with federal money. The Confederacy on the other hand was not unified in their efforts, which would become the main reason for the its demise. The Southern States( particularly South Carolina) seceeded from the union under the principle of states rates garunteed to them by the Articles of Confederation. Because each state was fighting for states rights, they had no particular unity with the other seceeded states and even horded supplies from each other. If however, the south had been a unified front and had a more centralized government, the south would have decimated the north. The south was still very close to winning war regardless but one of its most beloved icons(Robert E. Lee) made a huge mistake bringing the war to the North. Had they stayed in the south and protected home first, The South may have very well won. This comment is a TFM
im going to do you a favor by replying that in all likelyhood the “garunteed” mispelling was a simple typing error so some asshole doesn’t comment on your grammar.
yes I had several typos in my rant. Also in addition, the south owns the North. Charleston is the frattiest place on earth and is arguably the most important city in the shaping of America. Suck on that New Jersey Guidos
So I have a question, do any of you legitimately study the war or do you just spit out the same old rhetoric you learned in 5th grade? I am Southern and proud of it, my family is from the insane asylum known as South Carolina and has been there since the 1750’s. I had 7 ancestors that I have already traced that fought for South Carolina during the War Between the States, plus some in GA and NC. But damn it the war ended the way it did for a reason, every super power has had it’s growing pains and ours were the sectional differences we experienced during the mid 19th century. It had to come to a head and it did in December of 1860 when South Carolina seceded. There should be no pointing fingers at who started the war because both North and South (save a few on either side) were too damn stubborn to truly make the compromises and legislation that needed to happen so everyone could walk away and save face. Slavery was evil and it needed to end, period. One could make the argument that it was dying out and it probably was, but the Civil War just sped that process along. Let’s put the politics aside and focus on the military aspects of the war. The north used its considerable industry and man power to basically squeeze the life out of the South and break her will to fight (see Gen. Winfield Scott’s “Anaconda Plan”) The plan worked, but it took four long bloody years to do it and why is that? One reason could be that the South, for the most part, had better military leadership at times than the north had and won more battles in decisive fashion earlier in the war. Most focus on the Eastern theatre of the war i.e. Virginia, but there was a knock down drag out fight happening in the Western theatre that saw more union victories. I reckon though that it is pointless to continue this, because someone will find fault with what I have said here and revert back to the childish name calling that led to the started the whole conflict to begin with. We in the South HONOR and REMEMBER our past so it is not forgotten, even if we arenot always proud of it. So I encourage all of you supposed “leaders of tomorrow” to pick up some books and read them, who knows you might learn something about your heritage. We are supposed to be Fraternity MEN so act like it and LIVE YOUR RITUAL. IN HOC.
Yankees just don’t understand a few fundamental things.
We’re supposed to be a country that derives its power from the people & rules with the consent of the governed. If the people are not allowed to revoke their consent then it cannot be a valid democratic republic. That makes everything about America a sham and pisses all over our founding fathers and principles.
Regardless of the reasons our forefathers were driven to it, if you cannot succeed there is no freedom. Taking pride in your ancestors for standing up against a superior force to defend that principle is FAF.
Bragging about beating a weaker opponent just because you were stronger is NF. Kicking them when they’re down – reconstruction – is NF. Bragging about winning a war when you’ve never been in one is incredibly NF.
Yankees to us are oppressors who believe in an America that flagrantly disagrees with everything we represent and believe in as a country. Then they treat us like ignorant rednecks and expect us to be subservient to them. Being a yankee isn’t NF or GDI, it’s just evil. I’d rather have al qaida. At least they know what they believe and are honest about it. I can kill fuck out of those fuckers. Yankees, I guess I have to share a country with.
Being in a southern frat is not about the clothes on your back and the money in your pocket. It is about the pride in being raised below the Mason-Dixon and the knowledge that there is no need to put these northerners down because everyone knows where true gentlemen are born and bred.
My ancestors proudly took the stand against the northern invaders of their homeland. TFM.
14 years ago at 12:00 pmI wish the south would secede again except this time we should just let them go. We’d both like it better that way.
