Get Your Scotch Ready – Ron Burgundy Is Hosting SportsCenter Next Week

Ron Burgundy, sorry, I mean Will Ferrell has been tapped to host a late afternoon edition of SportsCenter early next month. Multiple sources have told The Big Lead that Ferrell will host the program, in character, to promote the December release of Anchorman 2. This is probably the best plug I’ve seen for the movie yet, and I’ve seen a lot, because Ferrell has whored himself out to just about every corporation that will let him do something in character. Hopefully he’ll put his co-host, Lindsey Czarniak, in her place while in Bristol. It is anchor*man*, not anchor*lady*. And that is a scientific fact.

Ferrell will be SportsCenter’s third celebrity guest-host in five weeks. Actor Ken Jeong and NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson both delivered big ratings, but Ferrell, an A-list actor who just so happens to have a movie coming out soon (Anchorman 2, December 20th!) is a significantly bigger star.

As some of you may or may not remember, Ron Burgundy was originally brought in for an audition with ESPN some time in the early ’80s. It didn’t go well, but luckily we have video evidence to decide what went wrong. Maybe it was because SportsCenter has no room for dirty whorish mouths.

This will literally be the greatest SportsCenter of our generation. I’d recommend watching it over a nice scotch.
