Hazing Scandal Hits The Citadel

Seems like a new hazing scandal hits the news every damn day.

Today, our story comes from The Citadel, a military college in Charleston, S.C., comprised of cadets pursuing their degrees. It is an accepted practice for the older students to discipline knobs (AKA the freshmen). However, four upperclass cadets have left school and 20 others have been disciplined for hazing allegations.

From the Charlotte Observer:

Four upperclass Citadel cadets have left school “voluntarily” and 20 others have been disciplined after the institution investigated some 85 allegations, many involving student hazing, the school announced late Friday afternoon.

No reports have come out describing what these hazing allegations are, but I can assume that they are nothing more than simple mental strengthening exercises. The incidents were reported after a Feb. 8 meeting with freshmen cadets and Capt. Geno Paulso, the commandant of the cadets.

The school received the allegations after the commandant of cadets at The Citadel, Capt. Geno Paluso, held a Feb. 8 meeting with all freshman cadets “to remind them of their duty to report any instances of hazing. He gave them until noon the next day to report violations or face possible disciplinary action,” the statement said.

It sounds like he put the proverbial gun to these kids’ heads and forced them to report something. I would wonder if the possible disciplinary action resembles anything that the upperclassmen are being accused of. Overall, it’s a pretty fucked up situation that these upperclassmen are leaving school and being disciplined. If more information comes out about what these incidents entail, we’ll keep you updated.

    These knobs are a bunch of pussies. The “hazing” only happens to a select few who they know won’t snitch. The one who snitched were pussies who cried about having to eat hot sauce and do some push-ups. While their piers who aren’t pussies did a lot worse and kept their mouths shut about it.

    Not exactly sure why this is even news. Everyone knows military academies “haze” freshman, its not a secret, and every person going to a military academy should know this. Shit, you can watch documentaries on West Point and the Naval Academy and it shows the freshman getting fucked with. I’m sure its worse behind the scenes, as it should be. While the citadel doesn’t require its graduates to join the military those that choose to should not be pussies because they are the men and women that will be leading this nations armed forces. I guess hazing can go too far sometimes but it rarely gets that bad, we fucked with the new guys in the Marines every time we got a new batch but we weren’t trying to actually hurt them, it’s just designed to make sure they know their shit so they don’t get themselves or other people killed in combat. I guess fraternities do it for the same reason just minus the combat part, you want your people to know about the fraternity and brotherhood.

    it’s called getting smoked you fucking pussies. suck it the fuck up. there are two types of men in the army: those who are smart and those who want to be strong. sounds like this bunch had their heads up their asses and decided to get strong. a little bit of physical corrective training helps weed out all that weakness and starts to hone you into a smarter, stronger, and better person.

      There’s nothing wrong with fucking with plebes (or knobs) but there’s always a line. I have a good friend who went to the Citadel before he transferred and he still has a scar on his forehead from having a pencil dug into his head. That’s not weeding out weakness, that’s just sadistic.

        My friend never reported it. He finished his knob year and transferred to the Naval Academy. Fuck off

        Well according to the article it saids he transferred after 1 semester. So if he didn’t report it then how does this news outlet have this information. Nice try dude. Kids a pussy, no questions ask. However, it makes my ring that much more meaningful knowing he doesn’t wear it.

    That’s horse shit, I toured the Citadel in 2011 and the guide literally pointed out who the knobs were and what stupid shit they had to do for their freshmen year… how is this just now becoming an issue?
