Help Support The Now Unemployed House Cook Of OU’s SAE Chapter
“For the guy who has probably spent more hours at 730 College than any other man,” the racism shown from members of Oklahoma’s SAE chapter cuts even deeper.
Howard is the tenured chef of the SAE house at the University of Oklahoma. Because of the actions of several members of the chapter — people who Howard spends a great deal of his time with — he is now unemployed after word came in that the fraternity was removed from campus. As an African American, it’s not hard to imagine that the news of his services no longer being needed probably doesn’t compare to the realization that some of his friends are racist.
The good news is you can help Howard, financially, thanks to the thoughtfulness of who I’m guessing is a former member of this chapter. An Indiegogo campaign was launched yesterday in Howard’s name. The intent is to ensure that Howard lands on his feet in the wake of this unfortunate incident. The posted goal is $50,000, and the current amount raised just eclipsed $11,000. The campaign runs through April 7.
From Indiegogo:
Today we received the news that some ignorant kids have quickly destroyed something that thousands of men built. Because of these kids’ actions, many will be affected. None more so than Howard.
Those of you who lived in the house, undoubtedly came to love Howard and his infectious smile (if not his chili dogs). He was always there to chat with you and more importantly, to take care of Mom B.
Well, that man is going to walk up to the SAE house tomorrow morning and hear that he no longer has a job. He is going to learn who has been working for. And through some cruel twist of fate, he has to lose the job that he has held for over a decade. He is going to lose his job because of a bus full of racist kids.
You know and I know that this isn’t the house we lived in. I’m positive Howard knows this too. I ask you to give some money to make sure he lands on his feet.
Thank you.
Good stuff here. Well done. Click the below graphic to be directed to the campaign page if you’d like to donate..

11 years ago at 11:12 pmI’m tired of this damn story. Let’s please put this in context. The kids in the video are undoubtedly ignorant assholes and stupid for singing the song in front of sorority girls. But we are ruining the kids lives because they sung a stupid racist chant while drunk. A LOT of Fraternities have dumb drinking chants and this may come as a shock, but when drinking you may sing it without thinking of the substance of the song. Was the song racist? Yes. Are the kids singing it racist? I think it’s unfair to assume they are. But Dorn, you got what you wanted. The story went viral and you got your name out at the expense of kids now receiving death threats and creating even more racial tension in a time where we definitely didn’t need it in this country. Go ahead and “take a lap” this from your glass house, but I would put all my future earnings that AT LEAST 95% of you have said the n word with a hard er. You just were lucky enough to not have it on tape. Not condoning what they did, and that being said please support this fund me. I digress.
11 years ago at 12:13 amI don’t think you understand that its not just the fact that they said the n word. It’s the fact that they encouraged the lynching of black people and repeatedly claimed that they would never let a black man into their fraternity because of his skin color.
11 years ago at 12:17 amDude, I agree with you 100%. What I’m saying is, yes the song was horrific and ridiculous. I should have worded that better but I don’t think they meant what they were actually singing. They were drunk brothers pumped up singing a repulsive, but let’s face it, catchy song. It was dumb but I feel bad it ruined their college careers and possibly life. You are right in that aspect though.
11 years ago at 12:28 amLet’s face it, when it all comes down to it, these gentleman have to be held accountable. That’s just how shit works, yeah, you can give ’em the benefit of the doubt all day long, but in the end, they’re grown ass men who unfortunately made some poor decisions that night.
