High School Football Player Creates Hilarious Highlight Reel Recruiting Tape, Is A Five-Star Benchwarmer

Jack Lenihan, a senior wide receiver at Barrington High School in Illinois, is not your prototypical college football recruit.

The lanky, white, zero-star high school second-stringer had high hopes of taking his playing (read: watching) career to the next level, so he created this hilarious highlight recruiting tape to grab the attention of college coaches. Now, Saban, Urban, Sumlin and Strong are scrambling the recruiting jets to make one last appeal to Lenihan before signing day.

From Hudl:

He doesn’t appear to have good football instincts, and spends the majority of his time wandering the bench while the rest of the team is engaged in the on-field action. But don’t diminish his role just because he never plays — his physical presence on the sideline is an inspiration to his teammates and is a non-quantifiable asset to the squad.

In the tape, the “Lenihan Factor” is on the field for one glorious play, and, without spoiling it, let me just say that it doesn’t disappoint.

Lenihan isn’t the first talentless scrub to take the internet by storm with a faux-recruiting video. Ryan Potter, a Nashville kid, pulled this stunt two years ago:

Lenihan’s scouting profiles haven’t updated his offer list yet, but surely there is some school out there willing to take a chance on this guy. An intramural team could use him, at the very least.

this is like creating a highlight reel of girls bacon’s had sex with, except that this one is funny and bacon’s would just be sad.

This could not be more accurate. He recruited me and my only accomplishment on the field was backup holder on JV.

I was 5’11” 145 lbs in high school, too. I quit football freshman year because I was too small.

The kid’s got great size and a great attitude. He really riles up the sideline and gives 110%. You can expect to see this kid on Saturdays in the near future.
