How About PGA Golfer Daniel Berger Hitting One Shot Before Withdrawing To Collect $50K?
As many of you are aware, the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone is this weekend, and, like every WGC event, there’s no cut. Everyone in the field gets a paycheck so long as they take a swing. That’s “a swing” as in a singular movement. Uno oscilación. One fucking hack.
Knowing this, an injured Daniel Berger — who qualified for the 61-man event with a win earlier this month at the St. Jude Classic — had his name announced before teeing it up at 1, took a nice easy swing, put the ball down the fairway, and called it a day.
From Golf Channel:
Despite the early exit, Berger will still receive $50,500 in unofficial money – the equivalent of last-place earnings during this week’s 61-person, no-cut event. He will not receive any FedEx Cup points.
This marks the second time this year that injury has led Berger to withdraw from a WGC event. He also pulled out of the WGC-Dell Match Play during group play after hitting his hand on a rock during a swing.
I’ll just come out a say it. I don’t like this move by Daniel Berger. It’s dishonest, selfish, and a mockery to the game of golf. I don’t like it one bit… I absolutely love it. Snake it ’til you make it and get that money any way you can, Danny boy..
