How The Hell Did He Do That?
On the last edition of “How The Hell Did He Do That?,” I brought you this video of a dude doing the now oft-replicated heater flip.
This edition of HTHDHDT (catchy, right?) sees the heater flip and raises it by about 2 pounds and 20 mph. Somehow, this Mets prospect had the reflexes, hand-eye coordination, and lack of self-preservation tendencies that only life as a minor leaguer can bring you to snag a whirling bat out of mid-air while his prospect colleagues cower in fear.
I’m TFM’s resident MLB expert. I know a lot about the MLB, as my parents used to be Tampa Bay Rays season ticket holders (they were 2 of the 400, meaning they, by themselves, comprised 0.5% of all Rays season ticket holders) and my best friend’s little sister’s ex-boyfriend is now an outfielder in the Brewers organization. And I, with all of my MLB knowledge, think this guy’s got a bright future ahead of him.
Those dudes in the dugout with him who dove out of the way, though? Sorry, bubs. Have fun being 36 years old and the backup catcher for the Montgomery Biscuits..

Nice parent brag.
9 years ago at 8:28 pmWas watching this live at a bar this afternoon. It took 3 replays until I’d realized what just happened. Slick AF.
9 years ago at 10:13 pmI was there when the Montgomery Biscuits won the southern League championship in 2004 and 2005. Team had Evan Longoria. BJ Upton. James Shields, Delmon Young and others. So you lay off my Biscuits
9 years ago at 1:19 pmThe guy’s (total lack of any) facial expression is what makes this clip for me. He catches flying bats at least 30 times per day and probably also catches bullets in his teeth.
