Insane Professor Fails His Entire Class Because He Is Fed Up With Their Incessant Bullshit

Texas A&M at Galveston management professor Irwin Horwitz failed his entire class and then walked away from teaching the course after a semester that apparently didn’t go as well as he hoped.
Horwitz, who is kind of a badass for following through on his stupid threat, sent the below email to his students. He was tired of their rude, disruptive behavior and wanted to let everyone know that this particular class was the worst he has ever dealt with in his 20 years of teaching and that nobody would be passing his course.
From HigherEd:
“Since teaching this course, I have caught and seen cheating, been told to ‘chill out,’ ‘get out of my space,’ ‘go back and teach,’ [been] called a ‘fucking moron’ to my face, [had] one student cheat by signing in for another, one student not showing up but claiming they did, listened to many hurtful and untrue rumors about myself and others, been caught between fights between students…. None of you, in my opinion, given the behavior in this class, deserve to pass, or graduate to become an Aggie, as you do not in any way embody the honor that the university holds graduates should have within their personal character. It is thus for these reasons why I am officially walking away from this course. I am frankly and completely disgusted. You all lack the honor and maturity to live up to the standards that Texas A&M holds, and the competence and/or desire to do the quality work necessary to pass the course just on a grade level…. I will no longer be teaching the course, and all are being awarded a failing grade.”
He then emailed school administrators to let them know he wasn’t going to deal with it anymore:
The same day Horwitz sent a similar email to the senior administrators of the university telling them what he had done, and predicting (correctly) that students would protest and claim he was being unfair. The students are “your problem now,” Horwitz wrote.
Horwitz admitted a few students in his 30-plus class were not disruptive and that they had performed the best academically. But you know what? Fuck them. Guilt by association. Those students also received failing grades.
Students have complained that they need Horwitz’ management course to graduate on time, but he said that based on the academic and behavioral issues in class, they do not deserve to graduate with degrees in business fields, nor do they deserve to be Aggies.
The school disagrees. According to HigherEd, the university has said that Horwitz’s failing grades will not stand.

11 years ago at 11:00 amThis is the future of college. It’ll be like an expensive high school. Instructors have lost a lot of power in recent years and I’m not at all surprised that the school won’t allow his decision
11 years ago at 11:01 amYou’re not surprised the school won’t allow his decision because instructors have lost a lot of power in recent years? How about, “not surprised the school won’t allow his decision because it’s a fucking ridiculously extreme example of painting with too broad of a brush?”
11 years ago at 4:17 pmThis is absolutely not the future of college. This is one lone wackjob who may never teach again.
No no no. Lets clear this shit up right now. This professor is completely full of shit. His ‘teaching style’ was damn near psychotic. The man attempted to teach the students break even analysis: by all accounts a simple, important tool for business majors. He attempted to explain it using 2 different approaches…which led to 2 different answers. When students asked him to explain which answer was the correct one he went into a rage and screamed at students for 45 minutes for not having known already which method was correct. After the incident he failed 2 students for asking him to explain on the board how he reached each of his answers. Apparently saying “excuse me professor, but could you work out the problems so we can see” was “inappropriate and rude”. He assigned a group project without rubric, giving some groups 8 weeks and another group 3 days (over easter weekend) to assemble the required work. When the group given 3 days did not give him the information he wanted (which was never even explained) he failed them on the spot and said not to bother coming in the rest of the semester. This man is a drama queen looking for attention. Were some students disrespectful? Probably. But not to the extent that this idiot describes. And since when do you people side with the professors?

11 years ago at 12:09 pmYou think anyone is actually going to take the time to read all of this? Are you insane?
11 years ago at 11:10 amThere have been far longer comments on this site, sonny boy. It takes maybe a minute or two to read as long as you read above a third grade level. Sack up and read slightly over 100 words, or go back to your Phonics lessons. Whichever works best for you.
11 years ago at 11:24 amI think we all wish the news companies read this review dude because it’s a great review that people aren’t able to see.
11 years ago at 6:33 pmI hate these kind of professors.
11 years ago at 11:05 amThis guy is almost as fucked up as the comments today.
11 years ago at 11:07 amGood on the university for righting this wrong. Sure, professors have lost some power in recent years im sure but there are way too many out there that think they’re the Dean and can do whatever they want. In example, this clown.

11 years ago at 11:15 amgotta feel bad for the professor, just look at the dude. clearly hasn’t ever sucked a titty.
11 years ago at 11:38 amI don’t think this guy realizes the “pledge class of one” mentality doesn’t exactly applies to class
