        The problem was that nobody understood what the hell you were talking about. #NotMyAbuela has nothing at all visible to do with Hillary Clinton, other than perhaps age, although her lack of being Hispanic negates all ties. As for your claim that we get offended by anti-Hillary smut, you are out of your mind because she is normally one of our favorite people to roast, and I say roast because we don’t like her particularly, but she deserves respect not only for being an activist who is generally considered to be socially responsible, but more importantly for being white and old and a presidential candidate. That said, the only reason that we make fun of her is that her views do not always explicitly align with our own narrow pedagogy. Also her personality makes her seem like kind of a twat, but that’s neither here nor there, and probably contributes to her success.

        Fair enough, I did post it right as the uproar was happening so most people probably did not read about it yet. For anyone who did not catch it, Hillary was trying to pander to Hispanics by saying that she was like their Abuela (grandmother in Spanish). Many Hispanic people went ballistic on Twitter saying she was nothing like their grandma, and the #NotMyAbuela hashtag was born. I thought it would be funny to say that a hot girl is nothing like my grandma. It’s cool, everyone strikes out once in a while, and I guess I did there. Took my laps, worked off that Christmas dinner.
