Investigation Finds No Evidence Of Alleged Rape At UVA
After a thorough investigation with over 70 interviews, police released a statement Monday that revealed they found “no substantive basis” supporting the accusations made in a November Rolling Stone article depicting a horrific gang rape that allegedly occurred inside the Phi Kappa Psi house.
From The New York Times:
Police Chief Timothy J. Longo Sr. said at a crowded news conference here, his investigators found “no evidence” that a party even took place at the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity on Sept. 28, 2012, when the rape was said to have occurred. Instead, he said, there was a formal that night at the house’s sister sorority, making it highly unlikely that the fraternity would have had a party on the same night.
Despite “numerous attempts,” he said, his officers were unable to track down the man Jackie had identified as her date that night. And several interviews contradicted her version of events. The chief said he was suspending, but not closing, the investigation, and he left open the possibility that some kind of assault might have occurred, saying additional information could still come to light.
“We’re not able to conclude to any substantive degree that an incident occurred at the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity house, or any other fraternity house, for that matter,” Chief Longo said. “That doesn’t mean something terrible didn’t happen to Jackie on the evening of Sept. 28, 2012. We’re just not able to gather sufficient facts to determine what that is.”
Phi Kappa Psi has expressed that it is now exploring legal options to pursue against Rolling Stone for the extensive damage inflicted by this shoddy reporting clusterfuck, and rightfully so. Greek life was shut down, houses were vandalized, and the reputations of the fraternity, as well as UVA, as a whole, were severely damaged.
Get out your checkbook, Rolling Stone..

Stuff like this just pisses me off. It unjustly makes all fraternities to start look bad and once again (somehow) put them all on the chopping block, and ruins one that didn’t deserve to be. Also if anything, the feminists should be mad at the people who lied, not the fraternity that allegedly committed the rape. All those lies do is make people skeptical that someone is crying wolf whenever an actual rape does occur, and that is also terrible.
11 years ago at 11:58 amAnd after all this the case is only suspended? This is indicative of the bias fraternities face. If you find no evidence of a crime, the victims story doesn’t add up, the accused has a solid alibi you know what I would call that? Case fucking closed.

11 years ago at 12:21 pmThe harsh reality is that those statistically committing most rapes don’t fit in with the politically correct agenda. When it comes to political correctness facts don’t matter narrative does. The media couldn’t resist the idea of a white republican type old money southern fraternity doing this. It was a liberals wet dream. Therefore facts were tossed aside. Tragic
11 years ago at 12:22 pmGuys, I recently watched a talk show on Fox that stated exactly why we get blamed for all this stuff. The media sees us as stereotypically upper middle class, white males. If we had a reputation for being lower class and/ or people of color, we would be media darlings. As it is now, we’re easy targets.
