Jameis Winston Cited For Stealing Crab Legs From Publix
UPDATE: Jameis Winston releases statement through his attorney about the crab leg theft, via Tallahassee.com.
“As reported in the news, last night I received an adult civil citation for petit theft from a local supermarket. I went to the supermarket with the intent to purchase dinner but made a terrible mistake for which I’m taking full responsibility. In a moment of youthful ignorance, I walked out of the store without paying for one of my items.
I realize that I am in the public spotlight and my conduct needs to be above reproach. Over the last year I’ve learned that my accomplishments on the fields can be a wonderful thing for my school, teammates, friends, and family. At the same time, I must realize that my mistakes are magnified and can bring great embarrassment to all those who support me every day. I make no excuses for my actions and will learn and grow from this unfortunate situation. I hope and pray my friends and family will view me as the 20-year-old young man that I am, and support me through this unfortunate situation.
I am grateful to be able to participate in the adult citation program where I will complete community service.”
The Internet is blowing up about this one. I think the story has legs.
Heisman Trophy and National Championship winning Jameis Winston is a hell of an athlete. There’s no denying it. He’s also just a weird guy. From the over-the-top mannerisms, to the quirky on-field behavior, to the locker room theatrics, to speaking outright gibberish, he’s just fucking odd.
But the future multi-millionaire stealing crab legs from a grocery store may be the weirdest/dumbest thing he’s done yet.
From SB Nation:
Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston was issued a citation Tuesday for shoplifting crab legs from Publix, a misdemeanor arrest, according to multiple sources.
Gotta put the team ahead of yourself, Jameis. So shellfish.

Crab legs are the only thing the universities won’t feed the players. The struggles of being a college athlete have gotten to him.
11 years ago at 10:31 amI thought Jameis already had crabs?
11 years ago at 10:35 amGOD. DAMN IT.
11 years ago at 10:37 amHe must have been one of those starving athletes we keep hearing about; I can’t believe FSU is denying their athletes even the most basic foods, like crab legs. This is no different than stealing bread to feed your family.
11 years ago at 10:40 amI don’t know why he would steal crab legs when Publix chicken tender subs are on sale this week.
11 years ago at 10:42 amThanks for the heads up, I know what’s for lunch today now.
11 years ago at 10:48 amHow can you be so FUCKING stupid?! These athletes will never cease to amaze me with their 4th grade brains.
11 years ago at 10:44 amChill the fuck out.
11 years ago at 11:06 amYou seem upset.
11 years ago at 12:47 amHe clearly thought it fell under the “Unlimited Snacks” rule from the NCAA

11 years ago at 11:07 amPublix plays better defense than yall I think it was what, like 51-14
11 years ago at 11:48 amEven Radio could have gotten away with this petty theft. Or read above a Jameis Winston level, but that is for another day.
