Here Are The Best Movies And TV Shows Getting Added To Netflix This January

netflix new arrivals january 2017

Despite the addition of several streaming competitors, Netflix still remains king. The name alone has become synonymous with binge watching and doing as little as possible — otherwise known as the American dream.

Each month we are given the treat of new additions to fuel our addiction. Among January’s new arrivals are these titles that you should spend some of your precious couch time on:

Movies

Boogie Nights

Marky Mark busts onto the scene, and some bodies along the way, with his big swinging dick during the 1970s porn boom. Need I say more?

Braveheart

I would spend three hours any day of the week and twice on Sunday to watch those Scotsmen fight like Scotsmen and earn back their freeeeeeeeeedooooommmm.

Caddyshack

Hey everybody, we’re all gonna get laid! If only that held true for those able to recite every line of Caddyshack by memory. I’d be rolling in it… until it came time to talk about anything else. Then I’d be back here blogging by myself in a dark room while talking in a Carl Spackler voice.

One of the greatest comedies of all time is now available to stream at your pleasure. So you’ve got that going for you, which is nice.

Collateral Damage

Do you like Arnold, explosions and watching a lot of bad guys die? That was a rhetorical question; everyone does.

You won’t walk away thinking how didn’t this win any Oscars?!, but you will end up with a lifetime of lines to quote the next time you decide to pull out that piss poor Arnold impersonation.

Ocean’s Twelve

Clooney, Pitt and Damon. I don’t even need to ring off the other 9 names for you to know you’ll be watching this one again for the first time in years.

The Shining

“Heeeeeereeeeeeeeeeeeee’s Johnny!”

Take a stroll down memory lane to a time when Jack Nicholson actually had to use his last name for recognition. The Shining is the perfect horror movie to throw on during your next cold, dark Netflix and chill night.

Jack was a bad man in his heyday.

V for Vendetta

Before Anonymous was digging up dirt on political figures and hijacking elections and Mr. Robot became a hit TV show, V for Vendetta was starting a revolution against the powers that be with a revolution of their own.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see some V masks pop back up during The Donald’s inauguration. Sad!

I’ve always wanted to be a part of a revolution. I don’t want to put my life on the line or anything; I just want to live through one so that I can lie years down the road to my grandchildren about my actual role during the revolt.

Vanilla Sky

Tom Cruise has a thing for science fiction, hence his status with the “church” of Scientology (please don’t hurt me, Tom).

Vanilla Sky will keep you on your toes throughout the duration of this psychological thriller. Religion aside, you can add this to Cruise’s rolodex of hit movies — the man can act. How else do you explain his ability to hold a straight face while giving speeches during Scientology prospect meetings?

TV

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 11 (Jan. 3)

The only television season added this month that is worth the time of day. If you know someone who truly believes The Big Bang Theory is a great sitcom, sit them down and make them watch all 11 seasons of Always Sunny. They’ll thank you later.

Comedy Special

Bill Burr (Jan. 20)

Burr is the voice of common sense. The world would be a better place if Bill Burr were given a position of power. Cursing would then also become socially acceptable in the work place. Fuckin’ A!

Concert Special

Justin Bieber: Never Say Never

Then I saw his face, now I’m a Belieber!

It’s A Trap; Don’t Waste Your Time

E.T.

Let me make something perfectly clear: I love movies from the 1980s. The look, feel and relationship characters had throughout the decade were as good as it gets. Stranger Things brought back that feeling of nostalgia and caught on like a wild fire.

With all of that being said, I hate E.T. The title is very enticing and is sure to hook some in on reputation alone.

I’ve forced myself to watch through it a few times now assuming that I must just not be seeing the same thing as everyone else. Nope, it stinks. There isn’t anyone’s opinion I trust more than my own.

Do yourself a favor and skip over E.T. It WON’T be as good as you remember or have heard. I promise.

If you’ve already watched your way down this list to the rest of the new arrivals, God help your social life.

Mel Gibson is a crazy sadistic bastard, but I’ll be dammed if he doesn’t make a damn good historical drama

Slightly better than I expected but still had to watch it in 15 minute intervals due to the cringe factor of it.
