Jesse Ventura Pulls Scumbag Move, Interrupts Interview To Brag About Beating American Sniper Chris Kyle In Court

Last year, Jesse Ventura won a defamation lawsuit against the late legendary American sniper Chris Kyle. Kyle had apparently claimed that he knocked Ventura out for saying SEALs were doing the wrong thing, or some shit. The courts decided Ventura was right and awarded him $1.8 million. $500,000 of that was paid for by HarperCollins, the publisher of “American Sniper.” The remaining sum was put on the shoulders of Taya Kyle. Forged Clothing would then start a “Legend Campaign” selling Chris Kyle themed shirts, and raised $1,000,000 in 11 days to help Taya pay that sum back.

Should be end of story right? Wrong. Jesse Ventura just had to put the spotlight back on him by interrupting The Opie Show on Tuesday to gloat about his win over the Kyle estate.

Come on, dude. There is no need for that. Chris Kyle is a goddamn hero. So you won — who cares? Chris was twice the man you’ll ever be. Sit down, and shove it up your tailpipe.

Chris Kyle is an American hero, but don’t forget what Jesse has done, too. The guy is an asshole, but he is also a Navy Vet and former Governor. If you asked my whose hand I would rather shake, I would pick Chris Kyle, but Ventura put his life on the line too.

This is a tough one, Ventura is essentially a hero and has spent most of his life calling out assholes and I applaud him for that……but it’s kind of fucked up to call out a deceased man that’s also an American hero and supposed to be his brother in arms for any reason other than to commend his service.

It’s kinda fucked up to shit on your brother in arms’ reputation to sell a book too.

Breaking character here, but while Chris Kyle is undoubtedly a hero he was also flawed. Many stories in his own book were proven to be untrue or including killing two robbers outside a gas station and walking away with saying “call the pentagon” despite security camera footage showing Chris Kyle had not been anywhere near the station that day.

Jesse Ventura himself was a Navy Seal (or UDT if you want to be specific) and tried suing for defamation before Chris Kyle died, then the entire nation turned on him under the narrative he had wished death on America’s Navy seals in a bar, got knocked out and vengefully sued the widow of an American hero.

Jesse Ventura’s reputation and career were effectively ruined, and won’t ever recover from that even if he did win the case. Now I’m not saying he isn’t being a dick in the video above, but why did he feel the need to enter that room? I feel like there’s more context than what we’re seeing.

Marine Corps veteran here, and I totally agree. Chris Kyle was a dedicated member of the armed forces, but he was more flawed than what a lot of the media made him out to be. Ventura is also a former service member and had his reputation taken through the mud because Kyle lied about his interaction with Ventura. Is the former governor being a dick in this video? Yeah. But there is much more to this story than what the brief video shows. It’s easy to get worked up about this issue because Chris Kyle is held up to be such an untouchable figure, but we all need to recognize that he legitimately had serious flaws and his dishonesty regarding Ventura was one of them.

Thank you. Further more, I sincerely doubt Ventura just bursts into rooms at random to declare he won. My guess is he had argued with someone in the room, left angrily and came back to drive the point home that he was innocent. He’s clearly not ‘bragging’ and interrupting the show just to be a dick.

Should he have come back and acted like that? No probably not. But by crucifying him
for this out of context video I’d argue you’re doing the exact same thing as Gawker for posting about a Sig Ep “blackface party”. Which is to say, pandering to your reader base before all the facts are out.

Surprisingly, it’s military folks most willing to take Ventura’s side. No one turns their blind rage off long enough to realize that Ventura successfully made a (notoriously hard to prove) defamation claim stick because there were more SEALs/UDTs supporting his version of events than Kyle’s.
And that is, understandably, infuriating for Ventura.
FFS people, Chris Kyle wrote in a best selling book that a former UDT said SEALs deserved to die. And a court- because of numerous witnesses siding with that UDT (Ventura)- determined that was a lie. Ventura is nutty as hell, but he was certainly within reason for following through with the lawsuit even after Kyle’s death. And he’s within reason to still be pissed that he is painted as the bad guy because people can’t get over the fact that an otherwise awesome guy royally fucked him.

This is why I maintain Minnesota people are the worst: It’s the only state where Reagan lost, AND they elected Jesse as their governor. Jesse may be right in this case, but it doesn’t mean he sucks any less.
