Johnny Manziel Is Retiring The Money Sign From His Repertoire Of Celebrations

Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel says he has learned his lesson and will not be bringing back the money sign celebration next season.
It’s been a wild ride for the money sign, which was introduced by Manziel after sitting out for a half during the 2013 season opener against Rice.
From NBC Sports:
“The money sign will not be back. I will not be making it,” Manziel said.
That’s because Manziel thinks it’s time for him to grow up and move on from a rough rookie season that saw him struggle on the field and end up in alcohol rehab.
“Last year is last year, it was what it was and it was not very good,” Manziel said. “So for me, I’m trying to close that chapter and just build on what I’ve done so far this year and just move forward, and try to close that chapter in my life. Not one that I’m very proud of, not one that I want to look back on very much and dwell on, that’s for sure.”
Manziel floundered in his rookie season with Cleveland, becoming more of an off-field distraction than an on-field asset. He spent part of his offseason in rehab and will be looking to regain the confidence lost in him by the Browns organization when training camp starts next month.
It’s a shame he is retiring such a special celebration. The money sign was a beautiful “fuck you” to the NCAA, after an investigation into his alleged profiting off of his signature yielded only a 30-minute in-game suspension. The money sign immediately became a universal celebration for all young guys in the south. Solid beer pong shot? Money sign. Fade away three at the rec? Money sign. 74 on an important computer science exam to stay above a D? Money sign. The money sign might be the only cool thing to come out of A&M’s Kyle Field in its 88 years of existence.
I’m excited for his next in-the-moment touchdown celebration. I only hope it will be half as endearingly douchey..

Fuck Johnny Rehab. RIP Johnny Football.
10 years ago at 3:29 pmI don’t think he will have many chances to celebrate again. Maybe finishing rehab. So worthless fucking article, thanks TMZ.
10 years ago at 3:41 pmIf anything it will be used to mock him if he even plays again.
10 years ago at 8:51 pmNo mention of TOPSZN?
10 years ago at 3:41 pmYou’re assuming he’s going to have something to celebrate again
10 years ago at 3:44 pmThe money sign is to Manziel what hookers were to Tiger. Without it, his career will begin a steady decline.
10 years ago at 6:03 pmBecause his pro career was so successful with it…
10 years ago at 11:04 amRIP money sign
10 years ago at 6:08 pmFunny thing is this didn’t start with Johnny…. Ben malena had this shit going in 2012, but who gives a fuck right?
10 years ago at 6:17 pmThis is why Rehab is a scam.
10 years ago at 6:29 pmHe wasn’t even in rehab. Rehab is for people with addictions and he had none, it was just the media trying to get clicks out of it. He was simply in a personal improvement program than anyone could’ve attended. It had nothing to do with alcoholics or drug users, it was a self-help program so he could get his life on track and adjust to acting like a normal human again post-college.
10 years ago at 6:37 pmNobody gives a fuck Bush Light just get the fuck out.
10 years ago at 6:53 pmEasy there, chief.
10 years ago at 7:00 pmIntersting point, not sure why you got lapped. I saw it as a way for him to prove to the team and others that he was focused on his career. Once a week personal improvement sessions don’t strike me as serious rehab but more of a publicity statement, in my eyes.
10 years ago at 9:48 pmYeah, you guys suck now. Hell of a fraternity article. Blow me.
