Kansas Police Do Not Advise Using Tostitos Chip Bags As Breathalyzers
Finally, Tostitos is thinking beyond the chip and making a true impact on the everyday lives of American citizens.
On Wednesday, Frito-Lay announced the unveiling of a special “Party Safe” bag just in time for the Super Bowl. The bag is able to detect small traces of alcohol in your breath if you breathe into it. Note: Take chips out of bag before attempting. If there’s no alcohol in your breath, the bag will glow green. If there’s alcohol, and let’s be honest, it’s the Super Bowl and there’s a damn good chance there will be, then the bag lights up with a red steering wheel and an Uber code for $10 off a ride.
Neat idea, right? Well, supposedly police departments don’t officially recognize a bag of chips as acceptable breathalyzers quite yet.
Two police departments in Kansas, the ones covering University of Kansas and Kansas State University territory, took to Twitter to completely shit on the idea of blowing into a bag to figure out if you’re too drunk to drive.
Two officers got paid for this Twitter exchange, by the way. So when you’re writing down dream jobs, getting paid to tweet nonsense should be pretty high up on that list.
So, I guess a bag of chips breathalyzer is a bit too cutting edge at the moment. I would be interested to see the evidence hold up in the court of law, to be honest. Regardless, the marketing ploy worked for Tostitos. Ay Dios Mio..
