Legends Of Golf Cinema: Part 2
Though the Masters tournament has come and gone, golf season is far from over. With Legends of Golf Cinema: Part 1, we took a look at the well-known classics. This installment covers a few of the greats and one or two lesser-known greats.
Shooter McGavin
“Stop fraternizing with the help, Gilmore. Just hit your ball…if you can find it.”
There never should’ve been any doubt that Shooter was going to make the list. The skilled, pretentious, loud-mouth conservative nemesis of Happy Gilmore is hands-down Christopher McDonald’s most recognizable comedic role.
On the course, Shooter was never remiss to let you know when he dropped a birdie or remind you what his name was, and he definitely inspired more double finger-pistol power points in the late ‘90s than you can even wrap your head around. Shooter is the epitome of the great golf villain, and hands-down a more superior golfer than Happy Gilmore. In my opinion, Shoota’ actually deserved that Gold Jacket at the end of the flick. He wanted it more.
In case you’ve forgotten some of his great trash talking moments:
It’s crazy to think how horrible this movie could have been had McDonald turned the part down, which he actually claims to have done…twice .
Ari was never able to haze the gay out of lloyd. That might be his only failure. Ever.

12 years ago at 6:08 pmHow is Happy Gilmore in the first one while Ty Webb and Shooter McGavin are behind him? Terrible list.
