Legends Of Golf Cinema: Part 1
The Three Stooges
“How we gonna shoot golf without guns?!”
Every now and then, you still come across the iconic Three Little Beers movie poster or a picture of the Three Stooges when throwing down some cocktails at your a respectable 19th-hole. Avid golfers on and off the screen, Curly, Larry and Moe were the sport’s comedy icons of our grandfathers’ generation.
Their slapstick pranks on the course make for classic references, and never failed to provide laughs for golfers far and wide when TV was still in black and white. Today, watching it provides a really solid, introspective look at just how far the brand of comedy in the golf-cinema realm has come over the past seven decades or so.
While some of the pranks may seem mundane, given the awesomely lewd comedy culture of the world today, other one-liners are timeless and never fail to get a laugh. I encourage you to adopt one or two on the course yourself.
If you’ve never seen it, definitely check out the iconic 1935 short, Three Little Beers:
I bode you all a wonderful Masters’ week. Be on the lookout for Legends Of Golf Cinema: Part II tomorrow…
You know you posted a link to a movie about a black caddie in French right? NF.
12 years ago at 1:53 pmI do. It was literally the ONLY link I could find with that epic scene. Plus, there’s no dialogue in that putt sinking sequence anyway.
