Lehigh University Chi Phi Suspended After Massively Booze Filled Picture Goes Up Chive, Reddit

It must have been so much easier to be in a fraternity before the internet. All you needed to get away with anything was a solid lie and plausible deniability. If there were a chance some damning pictures might surface, you could just send the pledges to set fire to the Walgreens photo department, and you probably had a couple days to do it too. But now there’s social media. Hell, now there’s TFM. We love that you guys send us funny pictures all the time, but if it’s going to get your fraternity suspended, maybe hold off. Unless it’s a really funny picture.

Unfortunately for Chi Phi at Lehigh University, someone snapped a picture of some Finals Week festivities set up, and posted it online. According to a tipster, it went up on Reddit or The Chive (they couldn’t remember which). Because of the photo, the fraternity is now suspended.

Chi Phi Fraternity at Lehigh University have been suspended immediately. This suspension comes pending the investigation of allegations of University policy violations by the chapter on the night of Friday, December 6, 2013 including providing alcohol to minors, drinking games, hosting an unregistered social event, and irresponsible distribution of alcohol. Additionally, the chapter will be facing Interfraternity Council recruitment violations for allegations of potential new members being present at the facility where alcohol was present the night of December 6.

The worst part about this is that it seems pretty clear that a Chi Phi took and posted the picture. It’s one thing if some drunk girl’s Facebook iOS album captures a pledge being forced to chug Popov while a blackout JI feels up some 17-year-old high school townie who snuck into the party, it happens. It’s another entirely when it’s your own damn fault. You’re better than that, Chi Phi.

Hopefully they at least got to drink all of that before they got in trouble.

    I was there actually. It was a rush event and it was awesome. And no all the beer was not drank, after about 10 minutes of pong there was a giant beer fight then. Then tables were flipped and beer slip and slide started. It was pretty awesome. It sucks that they got kicked off for it though…

      This is the fucking stupidest comment I’ve ever read. You’re the type of kid that causes problems for Lehigh greek life. Posting shit like this, which could easily get the chiphi guys in more trouble. Your lucky to have been invited to their event. If I knew who you were i’d make sure our fraternity blacklisted you. I hope to god you don’t get a single bid next semester.
