Listen To Legendary Dodgers Broadcaster Vin Scully Rail On Socialism During Game Broadcast
When you are an 88-year-old broadcasting legend, you can pretty much get away with saying whatever you want on the air.
So when Vin Scully railed on socialism during Friday night’s Dodgers broadcast, it shouldn’t have come as a surprise to anyone. Scully, born in 1927, had some majorly hot takes on socialism when Venezuelan infielder Hernan Perez stepped to the plate. There is not much context here, just a beautiful, elegant mini-rant on how awful socialism can be.

“Socialism failing to work, as it always does, this time in Venezuela. You talk about giving everybody something free and all of a sudden, there’s no food to eat. And who do you think is the richest person in Venezuela? The daughter of Hugo Chavez. Hello! Anyway, 0-and-2.”
Hello! Anyway, back to baseball. A great segue from Scully, who has also used broadcasting time to read a grocery list and explain the meaning of GOAT.
Thanks for the apropos lesson on socialism, Vin. You are, and forever will be, the GOAT..

9 years ago at 4:00 pmMaking your point without having to interrupt or shove it down somebody’s throat is definitely a TFM.
9 years ago at 4:52 pmYes, because a sports broadcaster knows so much about how economics work.
9 years ago at 5:02 pmNot that I support socialism, just no need to spread unqualified opinions around
9 years ago at 5:03 pmAll he said was that socialism was failing in other countries. You can be a child and understand that something that has failed other places might not work when you try it
9 years ago at 7:33 pmIt’s criminal that in the same year millions of people wanted to elect someone with a well-documented history of supporting Latin American socialism, the media is barely covering Venezuela’s collapse, and when they are they blame it solely on oil prices
9 years ago at 6:29 pmnext time I have an opinion I’ll come to you to qualify it for me frat dog
