Little League Offering Cases Of Beer At Concessions Causes Uproar

Beer and baseball have been synonymous with freedom in America for years–every red-blooded patriot enjoys these three things. One Wisconsin town, perfectly named Freedom, has been selling beer at the concession stand where kids play their little league games. What could go wrong?

Allowing baseball dads to down a case while watching their sons strike out on a pitch that was “clearly ball four” could only provide some of the greatest bleacher entertainment sports has ever seen. See, baseball dads believe that their kids are the next Mike Trout or Nolan Ryan, so you can sense their frustration when their kids get put in right field and bring up the rear in the batting order.

Since the photo of the concession stand menu arose, it has caused a stir among the masses. Not everyone is rallying around the idea of being able to purchase beer at a local little league game. Cam Smith, a USA Today writer, was one of those who seemed puzzled at the decision.

From Post Crescent:

“Hopefully someone with more common sense will descend upon Freedom and reassert the idea that we don’t always need the freedom to do absolutely whatever we like,” Smith said. “This would be a classic case where a bit more discretion would go a long way.”

Listen here, Smith. We live in the US of A, where we have the freedom to do what we please.

The Freedom Athletic Association didn’t stand idly by and allow this criticism to stop the beer selling.

The Freedom Athletic Association has been in existence for 60 years, and Sandy Daul, president of the Freedom Athletic Association, said it probably has been selling beer that long. She said this is the first time the group has come under criticism.

Nothing to see here–just 60 years of doing good, ol’ business with zero complaints. That’s called capitalism, folks.

As a former little league ump, I couldn’t even imagine the type of hell those pimple faced 16 year old umps are going through in that town

If this doesn’t result in a Randy Marsh-esque little league dad fighting tour, I will be severely disappointed.

It’ll be easier for Dorn to get the kids in his van when they’re drunk.
