Sam Houston State came to Baton Rouge in a bus, but left in a hearse. While the Tigers were tearing apart the Bearkats’ depth chart, a minor controversy was developing several blocks from the stadium on fraternity row.

Last season, the LSU DKE house received national attention after its Kent State game day banner mocked the 1970 tragedy. This week, the fraternity’s game day banner took advantage of the heightened media attention surrounding former Missouri football player Michael Sam, and it expectedly caught the eyes of a few unhappy fans.

According to NOLA.com, the university asked the fraternity to remove the banner and the chapter complied.

The university asked the fraternity on Saturday to “remove the offensive banner,” LSU Media Relations Director Ernie Ballard said in an email to NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune.

The banner is down, but it’s unclear when that happened. Ballard said it’s his understanding that the fraternity did not respond to a message from the Greek Life office asking the fraternity to remove it.

Neither the chapter or the LSU Greek life office have released a statement on the issue yet.

Hilarious. If you’re offended by this you probably ride a fixed gear bicycle and hang out in coffee shops playing on your Macbook.
