Except you’d still have to pay gift tax so you’d be paying a couple grand to destroy a car when you could have just taken the cash option or if they didn’t have one saved yourself the pointless waste of money
Yes thats true but good luck justifying that as a charitable contribution. If the charity used the car that would be one thing but he said he destroyed it for an event not donated to the event to destroy. Good try though
Think about this. Would it not logically follow that he maybe donated the car to the charity (thereby having the tax waived), which said charity then used at a car bash fundraiser event? Seriously if you couldn’t infer that from the TFM you just fucking suck.

13 years ago at 10:38 amIf you took something above acct 101 you’d know that’s not the case. If a prize is immediately given to charity the tax is waved. Good try though.
13 years ago at 11:11 amI highly doubt destroying the car counts as donating it to charity. Nice try though.
13 years ago at 11:20 am^He may have hosted a chairty “Smash-a-car” or something like that. Or this could be made up. It’s 50/50.
