Mark Cuban Wins Case, Hilariously Blasts The Government
Yesterday, a jury ruled that Mark Cuban did not commit insider trading, ending a nine year ordeal that saw the billionaire entrepreneur, Dallas Mavericks owner, Shark Tank star, and Pi Lambda Phi brother emerge free and clear. The charges were garbage, and after beating them Cuban gave a scathing interview questioning the Security Exchange Commission’s policies, accessibility, honesty, entire approach to governance, and even their patriotism.
The interview is packed not only with brutal critiques of the SEC and its leaders, but also with some terrific quotes. The famously outspoken Cuban stated that he refuses to be bullied, even if the bully is the US Government. He confirmed that he spent “far more” on his legal team to win than he would have been fined and managed to work “when I do things, people pay attention” casually into a response. You can now add questioning the government’s patriotism, excessive spending just to prove a point, and nonchalantly bragging about his notoriety to the list of TFMs Cuban has pulled in his lifetime.
This is the same guy who constantly harasses NBA officials both on the court and in the press. He doesn’t have a care in the world about the fines he receives, actually matching each dollar in fines with a donation to charity. This is the same guy who worked at Dairy Queen for a day after he claimed the league’s manager of officials couldn’t even manage one. This is the same guy who brushed off loads of drunken pictures of debauchery from his fraternity days, including pledges actually doing an elephant walk and him 69ing with a girl on the beach, with, “Hey, it was the seventies.”
Mark Cuban is my idol. He is absolutely living the dream.
As his beat down of an interview came to a close, a reporter asked him, “How bout those Mavs?”
“How bout the Mavs?” Mark responded, smiling as he turned to leave. “I got a game to watch.”
