This College Is Catering Football Game Days To Greeks, Throwing Foam And Pool Parties During Games
Millsaps College is a small Division III school that packs the stadium on Saturdays. During your typical home game, the school will have standing room only crowds of around 4,100. And remember, this is Division III, so that’s a big number for them.
The reason people are packing the stands at Millsaps isn’t due to the quality of football on the field — the team is 1-3 this season and wasn’t much better last year. No, fans are coming to the stands because their new athletic director, Josh Brooks, has turned the games into a giant party.
Brooks has not only allowed, but is encouraging the fraternities and sororities to throw foam and pool parties in a section behind the end zone. The school would not provide the pool, but encourages the Greek organizations to make and bring their own — a perfect project for the pledges to do. Just last year, Brooks put a slip-n-slide in the student section. How awesome is that? It’s impossible to have a lousy time when you mix alcohol and slip-n-slides.
In fact, they’ve already started the season off with a giant foam party during their first home game.
From Campus Rush:
Behind one end zone on Sept. 3, students played in foam, socialized along the fence or luxuriated beneath their particular student organization’s tent.
In addition to foam parties, pool parties, and slip-n-slides, Brooks has also put in a beer garden that conveniently serves Wing Stop — which is the best wing place, fight me — to thirsty and hungry fans. I love everything about this.
We need to bring this idea to the Division I realms. SMU would be a perfect spot to start..

10 years ago at 11:04 amWhat the hell else do you have to do at a DIII school? At least they accept the fact that their sports are just glorified intramurals.
10 years ago at 11:15 amI guess this is my chance to be a star walk-on then!
10 years ago at 4:52 pmCould we get some scantily clad pics from one of the sororities’ Instagram page or something? I like the idea, and want to see the execution.
