Mizzou AEPi Sets Largest Single Fraternity Philanthropy Donation Record; $132,000 To American Cancer Society
How impressed am I with Mizzou AEPi right now? I just walked into TFM’s kitchen, poured myself a cup of coffee, and walked back to my office to re-read the amount they raised through their Rock-A-Thon philanthropy for the American Cancer Society all so I could purposely do a spit take for dramatic effect, with absolutely no regard for the fact that this is being conveyed via the written word and not a single one of you could see it. My printer is covered in coffee. Still, it was necessary.
Though AEPi fell short of their stated (and ambitious) goal of $150,000, the $132,000 they raised still breaks the previous largest single fraternity or sorority philanthropy record — also held by Mizzou AEPi — of $123,000, set in 2013.
In the words of the great (fictional version of) Russell Crowe, “Take THAT cancer! And THAT!”
AEPi senior Jason Hoffman rocked away the weekend — all 63 hours — while his brothers topped off their fundraising efforts by scrambling to secure as many donations as possible.

With the help of the community, alumni, family, Mizzou sororities, and more, the men of AEPi reached their goal. Then, on Sunday evening, at Mizzou’s Traditions Plaza, they announced their total.

I was rocker for AEPi Mizzou and I knew these boys were going to crush it. Great group of guys who I wish could be recognized nationally for their work. What’s crazy is movements like this are happening all over the country in greek communities on every campus. The national media will want to talk about hazing and rape culture, but there are things to be proud of, good examples to be held up. Thanks TFM for covering the story both this year and 2013.
