Mizzou’s #ConcernedStudent1950 Blames Football Players’ “Privilege” For Campus Shooting

Well, here we are again. While the Mizzou campus has remained clear of large-scale protests for the last few weeks, ConcernedStudent1950 still lingers and the group is continuing to make their presence known — whether students who are forced to share the same school with them like it or not. This time, the student activist group (?) blamed an on-campus shots fired incident on Mizzou football player’s “privilege.”

The now-deleted tweet came after two shots were fired on the Mizzou campus late Friday night during an Omega Psi Phi event. No injuries were reported. MUPD is still investigating the incident.

The ConcernedStudent1950 backed away from the tweet minutes later, deleting it shortly after it was posted. Supposedly someone thought “hey, maybe we shouldn’t bash the one group that actually made people care about our protests last fall.”

But this is the internet. You can try scrubbing it away but screenshots live forever.

While the tweet was directed at the Mizzou Athletic Department and not specifically at the football team, it was more than clear who the group was talking about. Mizzou football players were rumored to have played a role in the shots fired incident or the events leading up to it.

And, let’s be honest, football players and basketball players have privilege on every campus in America. They’re pampered. They’re on national TV weekly. They bring in millions of dollars of revenue for the schools. But to blame some jackass firing a gun on the players’ privilege? That’s crazy. That’s like asking the president of your entire university’s system to hold a press conference and denounce his white privilege.

Oh, that happened? That was real life? Well, I guess nothing’s off-limits to this group.

The actions of this one group continue to taint the great name of Mizzou. It’s unfortunate..
