Naked Rowers’ Charity Calendar Wins Fight On Facebook

My brothers and I have executed some pretty successful philanthropic events, but there was one that flopped harder than the theoretical love child of Thomas Müller and Blake Griffin. This colossal failure I’m talking about was our first (and last) Brothers of State Christmas Calendar. I’ve tried everything to erase the memory, from smashing beer cans over my dome to running head first into a wall–the images of me wearing nothing but a Santa hat over my junk will not dissipate. Not only did we give our rivals free ammunition, but we sold a total of five calendars, all to brothers’ girlfriends and moms. It’s a decision that will haunt me for the rest of my days. Calendars should remain as God intended: with scantily dressed women.

Fortunately, today, I’m sharing the photos from Warwick Rowing’s calendar, which features 17 women from the squad. So far, the women have raised £3,400 for Macmillan Cancer Support, which is approximately $5,800. They’ve done so by advertising on Twitter and Facebook, but Facebook quickly removed their page for “explicitly sexual content.”

The calendar’s organizer, Sophie Bell, did not take the removal lightly.

From Mirror:

Organizer Sophie Bell, 20, blasted the social media site for harming their chances of raising more money for charity.

The history and politics student, who has just finished her second year, said: “They say it is because of nudity, but we are not violating any of their terms and all the pictures we post are not indecent images or inappropriate.”

Her point seems valid. There are countless other nude charity calendars, including the male rowers’ calendar on Facebook. (Again, I cannot stress how bad of an idea nudie male calendars are.)

Bell and company raised enough awareness of the removal that Facebook has since reinstated the photos, claiming the page was removed due to an “error.”

Since I know you animals just came for the photos, here you go.
